vintagerod Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Any recommendations on a spinning reel and type of line for a good walleye setup? I am looking for ANY reel (New or Used/Vintage but in excellent condition) that can be had for under $100... Here is the rod I will mate the reel to: Make/Model: 1986 Fenwick Hooksetter 100% Graphite HSS 726 Type: 1-piece Spinning Length: 6' Power: 6 (Medium Heavy) Line: 8-20 lb Lure: 1/4-3/4 Thanks kindly. Red Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 i always used a cardinal 101, light action rod with 6 trilene XL when i lived in minnesota....i landed a 36 inch muskie that tried to eat my ten inch walleye on this set up...it was a ton of fun! Quote
Iowa Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Try a Pflueger President....6735 model maybe. Great real for the price, super smooth. Line I would recommend some Power Pro. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Super User Posted February 19, 2008 Shimano Symetre. Quote
MskSlyr Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 I have always like the Quantum PT's (Catalyst, Kinetic, etc). Pflueger makes some quality equipment in spinning as well that are reasonably priced. Basser89 has me hooked on the Suffix braid on spinning tackle works very well. Quote
Iowa Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Pflueger Predsient 6730, GREAT reel, with some 8lb Power Pro. Quote
