eaglesfn68 Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 hi, my whole family likes to fly fish and i would like to some day to but for now all i have are some spinning rods. Can i catch trout on a stream with a spinning rod and what would be some good baits. Quote
Super User Marty Posted December 30, 2007 Super User Posted December 30, 2007 The answer is yes, you can catch stream trout with a spinning rod. Spinners, grubs on jigheads, spoons, crankbaits will all catch fish. Quote
maxke01 Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 rooster tail spinner will work excellent for trout in most streams Quote
plnoldrick Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 rapala j-5. silver and black. slash it through the water. 17 brownies and a monster 23" bow last opening day. Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Another lure you can try is a 2" or 3" Berkley Power Minnow, silver/white sides and black/navy back is the most productive color for me. Cast it out, and just reel it or twitch it slowly near the bottom, bumping the rocks. Quote
flippincrazy Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 We fish for trout all winter long, only thing to due in ohio, always use spinning gear. Small spiners and grubs can't be beat, unless you use live minnows. Some 3-6 inch creek chubs can catch some big browns. Quote
