Josh VanderMeer Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 recently my buddy got me into flyfishing for salmon. Hooked into this beast about 2 weeks ago (just got pics developed) weighed about 20lbs took about 15mins to get him in caught on a purple woolly bugger pic of me bringing him in Quote
FivePoundBluegill Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 I can tell its a nice fish. Very bad pictures though. Were you useing a disposeable camera? Quote
Josh VanderMeer Posted October 2, 2007 Author Posted October 2, 2007 ya i was ... and it was a waterproof one that has no flash... it kinda ticked me off how bad they were Quote
Jake. Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Great Fish. ;D I bet the salmon put up a great fight. Quote
tritz18 Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Nice fish, I still haven't explored fly fishing yet but I soon will Quote
ewokmonsta720 Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 I also have recently got inot fly fishing. I've yet to catch my first salmon. Did you reel in by hand, laying the line down? Any tips you can give me would be awesome. Quote
Josh VanderMeer Posted October 5, 2007 Author Posted October 5, 2007 well if u have a fly reel with nice drag than i would recommend reeling it in by using the reel. a lot of newer high capacity fly reels have large arbors that allows you to reel in more line per turn umm if you hook into a salmon it will thrash and do crazy runs ... just let it do its thing when u first hook it ... it will snap your leader like nothing if u have your line to tight after it slows down then start to pump it in or what not Quote
ewokmonsta720 Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Awesome........thanks. Now I gotta find a good spot to get them Quote
