Blue Streak Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 I was looking at these today and the package said to rig them with a 4/0 or 6/0 wide gap hook. I am wondering if they have a tendecy to roll or spin when retreived. Any one have favorite colors yet? They look like they could be a good bait. Quote
crab Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 I seen KVD use them on a jig as a trailer but ive never used them. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted February 19, 2008 Super User Posted February 19, 2008 There is no issue with it rolling over, amazingly.Just be sure to rig with the tail up. Quote
Zebco202 Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 What kind of retreive do you use with these? I have seen them at Wal-Mart and other places but I have yet to pick any up. Can you fish it like a fluke or other soft jerk baits? Quote
MyKeyBe Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 I haven't used mine yet but the video of them looks great. Do a google search for strike king rage tail video and click on the first site that comes up. I'd post the link for ya but I can't as it's another fishing site. Quote

AUkurt Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 The Rage Tails are wild and terrific baits, Here are hooking instructions: These baits have replaced all of mt buzzbaits and that's a BIG DEAL! Great post Big O. I was trying to hook them through the wide side. I had them hitting the lure but I couldn't set the hook the way I had it rigged. Good info! Quote
Troutfisch Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 Good info all around everyone! I was hoping to get out on the water later this afternoon and try them out for myself but the wind is really kicking it over here so I might have to take a raincheck on this one... Quote
tomspen Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 AUKurk I guess you tear the little plastic strip that hold the tial to the body to get the best action from the tail? Quote
Stasher1 Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Yes, you need to tear the little plastic strip. Quote
BUCKEYEone Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 I bought a pack the other day and threw them for a while yesterday just to check out the action. These are going to fill the livewell quick! Great action on the topwater. I rigged mine with a Gammy 5/0 EWG hook and threw it on 12 lb mono and just rolled it at a moderate pace and was very impressed. No fish even looking for topwater yet here, but I cant wait to throw this thing in the coming weeks! Quote
Big-O Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Here in Texas they are already getting the job done in a big way. Great baits Quote
NEbassMaster Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Just bought the Rage Shad, but haven't tried it yet. I've been using the Rage Toad and I'm very impressed with the hits I get. I've only landed a few, but that's because I'm not use to soft baits and pausing to set the hook. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 23, 2008 Super User Posted July 23, 2008 Welcome aboard! 8-) Quote
JShrock07 Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Welcome!!!! One thing you are going to want to do when trying to set the hook with these baits is not to let it sit for too long in the fish's mouth. Try to let it sit only about 1-2 secs. before setting the hook. When you do set the hook reel up tighten your line and slam her back!!! I usually hook up every time. although I have been missing some here lately. Good Luck to You!!! Quote
Brad_Coovert Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 The Rage Tail Shad is one of the best topwater baits to come along in a long time. If you've got shallow cover in the waters you fish, then it is a must have bait IMO. Smokey Shad, Green Pumpkin/Chartreuse and Black Neon. Brad Quote
