liquidsoap Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Whats your favorite plastic on a shakey head? I am planning on using zoom finese worms and robo worms. Quote
jb_adams Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 I've had luck with finesse worms in green pumkin flake and green pumpkin, motoroil, 6" fire tail (black with pink twirl tail), and trick worms too. I would say finesse worms and any worm under 6" would work. I really like the twirl tail because when you jerk it a few times, the bait swims back to the bottom like a little helicopter. It waives it's little tail and gets the attention of the fish. I've had many strikes after it settled and then I twitched it again. I've also used a slow retrieve and let it work itself across the bottom. It works great with small rocks and probing the bottom. Quote
carySE406 Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Zoom 4-3/4" finesse worms in watermelonseed and watermelon candy 4" Powerworms in pumpkinseed Quote
jomatty Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 my favorites are zoom finesse and trick worms, the 3x worms (some dont like but i love the way they always stand straight up), and the skinny senko. Quote
senko_77 Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 I usually throw a trick worm, but strike king 3x's are awesome! Quote
Craw Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Zoom Trick Worm, shortened to 4" or 5". Green Pumpkin is my favorite color. Seems to work everywhere I've fished. Quote
illini Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 RI's Flirt worm, GYCB's Kut Tail, Zoom Finesse worm for me its in that order. Used with Spot Remover jig head. Quote
cgs2004 Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 I've really been enjoying throwing the new Zoom Shakey worm. Quote
bubbler Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 good choice on the roboworms. I like the bass poison pumpkin and red flake. I also like the roboworm strait tail oxbood in 6'. Quote
Bass XL Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 For shakey head, I love using any of Webbs Baits ( www.webbsbaits.com) worms, They are fantastic, and have AMAZING action. Quote
CJ Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 I have used several different brands of finesse worms from 4"-7" on spot remover heads.Almost all of them work great. Some companies just offer more or better color varieties. My faborite is the Mann's or FLW 6" finesse worm.I don't know what it is about that worm the fish like but they do.I just picked up some of Reaction Innovation Flirt worm in 6.95 and 4.95.They look pretty good. Lard_Bass Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Do most of you guys shorten your worms (especially trick worms) on this rig? I have read people use the trick worm as is on a shakey head. Quote
mdangler Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 I do a lot of shakey heading i have to say that I think it is hard to beat the strike king 3x finesse worm. they are real buoyant, so the tail sticks off the bottom. You can also vatch like 15 bass on one plastic. Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 I don't know how you guys like the zoom trickworm for shakey heads. I tryed them on it and they fall over and the shakey head doesnt stay up straight. I like the berkley shakey worm, they float/stand up straight on a shakey head. Quote
cbfishalot Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Reaction Innovations flirt, Zoom finesse worm, GYCB senko (night) Strike King 3x finesse worm is a great bait but it's a pain to rig!!!!! I use a reaction innovation screwed up jig head but with all the talk about the spot remover jig I'm going to need to give them a try. Quote
Gorgebassman Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 I have had alot of luck with the zoom trick worm and most recently been using the 3inch berkley power beast in pumpkin as well and catching some fish down deep with it. Quote
BD Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 I like using small craws actually. The head allows the bait to stand up, smallies are always eating craws, so why not...besides everyone I know fishes finesse worms on shakey heads.....gotta change it up. Quote
squid Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 I LIKE TO USE TRICK WORMS....AND FLOATING WORMS ARE GOOD TO USE TOO. Quote
Deuceu72 Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 GYCB "Stretch 40" grub........... ;D ;D ;D Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 last year my best producers were Ghostbaits gobie Joes shakit zoom grub This year, I'm trying every plastic in my box to see what performs good. Quote
Rattlinrogue Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 My favorite is a green pumpkin finese worm(I've been using the FLW 6" finese worm which I'm told is a Mann's Draggin' Head finese worm). It is a neat weapon in the arsenal. My daughter went fishing with some of her friends during cool-cold weather last year. She asked me what she should use. They were fishing off of the bank.I had just read an article on the shakey head rig,and I rigged her up with one on a spinning combo. She managed to catch four bass(they were all dinks, but a bass in winter is a good thing no matter what size). Her friends all skunked. She actually caught one on her first cast.I used her as a guinea pig,and it convinced me that the shakey head rig is a good 'un.If I keep this up with all of the "finese" rigs I've learned will have me using spinning rigs exclusively.I've always been a baitcasting, big bait, fast fishing kind of guy,but the finese rigs that I've learned from listening to you guys have really added an extra dimension to my bassin'.
