Hey all, got some baits that are falling apart. Specifically the Berkley Hollow Bellies.

Is Mend It the best? I haven't tried it yet because of the price, but I see TW has a smaller size now. Thanx

I've been using Loctite's Industrial strength super glue, because it was recommended on some swimbait sites. it works very well, but my problem has been the last two tubes of it I've purchased dried up extremely quickly - no matter how well I take care of it and close the cap well. it may have to do with the fact that it dries so quickly (your swimbait is ready to go in about 5 seconds), but if I can't make use of the full bottle of it then there's a design flaw.

having found nothing better out there - I'd try the mend it if I were you. hopefully someone chimes in with a good option...I need something also.

We keep our Loctite 404 in the fridge to keep it from doing so.

I personally like to use a lighter to fix torn plastics.  I either heat up a hook and use it to weld it back together or just melt it with the flame.  Problem is I don't smoke so I can only do this if I am fishing with someone who does or if I am at home.  I am sure the glue is easier to deal with though.

Mend it dries up too. I opened mine and used it once to see how it worked a month later it was dried up.

This talk about drying up! have you tried pushing all the air out first before placing the cap on > This reverse pressure is like the original vacuum. Can't leave any room for air so just squeez up till it starts to drip .Then wipe the tred and top it off. Just trying to find your answer.

I just got some Pro's Soft Bait Glue for that purpose along with the instructions of how to use it since it came with the new style bottle cap. From what I could tell in usage, it is just regular ole super glue and dries hard. The instructions said to use it after rigging, and I tried some repairs before re-rigging and couldn't get hook back into the bait where I wanted it. Following the instructions, the next tear of a repaired bait is a lot worse than the original tear and you end up with bait and glue residue bonded to the hook. Have any of you ever gotten just one drop and one drop only when applying any liquid super glues while fishing? Well one drop of Pro's is recommended for bait repairs. I got my fingers stuck together a couple of times-- ;)

From the advertizements I have seen for Mend It, the liquid is not a glue but a substance that bonds the plastic to itself and the repair is the same texture as the rest of the bait. I am going to order some of it for a try as I am not pleased with the "repair" using the Pro's.

mend it does a great job with fixing baits.  I've pretty much mutilated baits and was able to glue them back together.  However it does dry up.  I was considering getting some acetone to see if it would liquify the stuff again, but have never gotten around to it.

Has anyone tried Pro's Soft Bait Glue by Innovative Products?

Only problem is that you are to store it out of the heat so I keep it in my coole with my JJ's Magic when on the boat.

May store it in the refrigerator in the future to keep it fresh.

Give it a try.

I have given up on using any of it! All I seem to do with it is glue fingers to baits, baits to rods, cap comes off bottle falls on side and glue goes everywhere! I will just buy more baits as this stuff isn't worth the frustration it causes.

I have had good luck with 3:16 Soft Bait glue.  Hard to find, but is much better than Super Glue and was recommended to me over Mend-It.

Had a bottle 2-3 months and hasn't dried out.  Bottle has a brush like on finger nail polish.  The glue actually melts the plastic so when you put it together it welds it back together.  Won't stick to your fingers and dries soft with no residue.

Got mine from Anglers Lodge Tackle shop in Del Rio, Tx.

I carry a Power Zap from BPS. It is a little pricey to start but I have been using it for close to a year mending and modifying plastics and am still on the first battery.
