Bizzo Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Corn man. My buddies and I used to buy one can of corn and catch em like crazy in the mississippi. Put 2 or 3 kernels on a hook, let it sit on the bottom, and you will catch em. Quote
Guest SkyChimp Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 whats a good bait for carp??? Dog crap. I'm not kidding. Hell putting on the hook, though. Quote
Super User Marty Posted July 31, 2007 Super User Posted July 31, 2007 I've always used corn. But I've seen a lot of carp caught on cereal, such as Wheaties or Bran Flakes. Grab a handful, immerse and squeeze out the excess water until it's the consistency you want. Quote
jeremyt Posted August 1, 2007 Posted August 1, 2007 When I was in highschool we would go catfishing on the cape fear river. We would also pick up some ( what I called ) orange goop. They sell it in white containers with blue lettering at Wal-Mart. I won't say that it worked any better than what the gentleman above listed, but we had some good luck with it. I don't know of any freshwater fish that will ruin a drag better than a 20 some odd # carp. They seem like a freshwater tarpon to me. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted August 1, 2007 Super User Posted August 1, 2007 Shredded wheat, corn, or hot dog buns. With the shredded wheat and bread, dunk it in water (not too wet) and squeeze out the excess water to form a ball. If it is too wet, it won't form a ball. Too dry and it won't stay on the hook. Quote
