OldGuyAl Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Hey! I'm going to fish in Michigan (Portage Lake) in August and I've never even see a walleye except for TV shows. I appreciate this advice because I really want to catch one! Anybody fishing Portage? and specific advice for a southern boy who's been bass fishing for most of his life? Also, what else can I catch using basic bass fishing tackle (I'm taking 2 spinning rods and 2 baitcasters). Thanks! Al Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted July 30, 2007 Super User Posted July 30, 2007 I've never fished Portage Lake, but here on Lake St. Clair we use crawler harnesses and crankbaits for walleye. Yesterday, while I was out fishing for bass I caught some walleye on a Norman "Mad N" In lavender shad. Very often you will catch walleye on most bass tackle. Hope this helps, Falcon P.S. Bomber Long A's have produced big-time for me for walleye. Quote
rocknfish9001 Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 portage lake? Try trolling husky jerks for walleyes, you might need to work with them using weights to get them down to the fish. Portage lake is kind of famous for its pike fishing Quote
