TheBigWelsh Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Fished this lil local lake for a couple years now. Fished it pretty heavy for gills since barely any one else does, and it always produces good fish. Well today i caught some of the biggest gills ive ever seen. Our biggest was 10.5" (crappy shot with the tape) and our average was aroudn 8" and 1 pound. The 10.5 tipped the scale at 1.87 pounds. He'll be a good eater. ;D (a couple dinks got gut hooked, had to keep em) Quote
Cigarlover 1 Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Nice job. Any Crappie in the pond? That's good eats too. Quote
mossy500camo Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Bluegill are my FAVORITE fish to fish for. Good job! Give me a Zebco 11 Micro reel and rod combo and you will see one happy fella! ;D Quote
skillet Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Down here in the South, anything that looks even close to that is called a bream. I know there has to be almost 1/2 dozen types that look similar, it's still a bream :-/. By any name they are all good eating! It's really been too long since I had a mess of them to fry up :'( As Ever, Skillet Quote
Super User Dan: Posted April 30, 2007 Super User Posted April 30, 2007 nice! those are very pretty looking bluegills. Still not as pretty as red-breasted or pumpkinseeds, but they look nice and healthy. Quote
