tritz18 Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 You can add in the occasional pop and then pause and continue this in your retrieve. Quote

Based on your retrieve, I suspect you mean "toad" baits like the horney toad. I have never heard of anyone doing well with hollow body frogs by just reeling them in. If you are talking about toadies then the straight retrieve to make it act like a buzz bait is what I do, but I have a lot of success by stopping the retrieve at the outer edge of the weed bed and letting the toad spiral down. This will trigger strikes for me from some very nice bass. Quote
bass slayer 17 Posted July 29, 2008 Author Posted July 29, 2008 im using a bronzeye hollow body frog and im reeling it in straight over the thickest stuff i can find and it works awesome 8-) 8-).. i also have used the jerk and pause method along with twitching and walking the dog in open water.. how about letting it sit in one place for a period of time or just doing a super fast retreive???? i have all of the basics down with the frog but i want to try something they havent seen before Quote

If you really want to put a change up in your fishing try fishing your frogs on docks under trees or near other heavy cover where people usally do not throw a frog. I catch a lot of bass shallow this time of year on sea walls. If you watch dean rojhas on tv you very rarely see him fish scum flats or pad fields. Scum and pads are good but everyone knows how to frog scum and pads. The best frogers are ones that make percision cast to all kinds of targets sea walls docks trees brush and anything else you can find. Frog on! Quote
ncbill Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 With the horny toad I have the best success when I drag it across pads or mats and let it drop in the holes. The hit usually comes on the fall into the holes. Quote
