Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted December 4, 2006 Super User Posted December 4, 2006 Just exactly what kind of setup would you use for something like that? Good lord... Quote
Super User senile1 Posted December 5, 2006 Super User Posted December 5, 2006 I watched a show on the National Geographic Channel where they caught one of these. They stretch a heavy duty net completely across the river and wait until one hangs up in it. Getting it to the bank is the hard part. I think the one on the show was 9 feet. (Maybe it was this one in your picture.) They have a big long wooden contraption that they have built and they tie each end of the fish to the contraption and then they pull it out of the water. It took quite a few people standing chest deep in the water to do this and the show stated that the possibility of injury was great with a giant 9 foot fish thrashing its tail and body. Quote

chs773 Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 there was an episode of wild boys were steve-o and chris wrestled a catfish this size in the water. It was pretty funny Quote
Bionic Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 They are strong fighters. I was in Thailand in October and landed a few. The biggest was at 52lbs. They were two other gentlemen from England that landed two that were big. 88lbs and 90lbs. If you get on them you will be left tried and sore at the end of the day. Good feeling P.S. The gentlemen that Cindy Garrison fished with is a friend of mine and probably one of the best in Southeast Asia. Quote
