from everything i've seen and heard the MS slammer/X2 slammer's are absolutely killer wakebaits. i haven't thrown one but LBH made me a believer when he smashed out a 6, 5 1/2, and 3 1/2 all within an hour walking a 'ghetto special' slammer early morning. i've been wanting to get my hands on one but still can't justify spending $40 on one bait, guess i'll keep searchin the classifieds in hopes one will pop up (and NOT get snaked by speedbead... you dirty rotten...! ;D)

i hear you cant go wrong with 3:16, but i think they might be more expensive than you are looking for

i also hear spro bbz-1 is good

For $60 you can get two Mattlures Woodys. 3:16 makes good wake baits as well. You could also get a Tru-Tungsten bait and have a sinking bait also without buying another bait.

For less than 60, your options are: MS Slammer.  Not my favorite wake bait , but a dang good one, thats for sure.

I fished the BBZ floater for awhile and got a 9lb 10ozer on it, but i dont throw it anymore, gave it away actually.

OK I've decided on the Slammer, thanks guys, but should I get the original or the 3 peice one? Also, what color do you think is the best for eelgrass infested florida lakes?

It is a matter of preference i think. I will NOT throw anything but the 9" original. There is just something about that bait that gets munched.

But there are plenty og guys that whack fish on the X2.

Color is not massively important. hitch is a good all around baitfish color

better hurry though word on the street says that mike shaw is gonna taper production down to a trickle making these baits very hard to come by
