Mike H. Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 Yellow perch on a spinner bait...The perch was about as big as the bait. Quote
Big_Bass_Rich Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 Geeze fishing Lake Erie I've caught one of everything! lol - Carp, Catfish, Gar, Pike, Musky, Sheephead, Walleye, Perch, Rock Bass, Bluegill (on a Hula Popper once), brown trout, chinook salmon and even bowfin (not on Lake Erie). Non - Fish - Snapping Turtle, Condom lol, Wallet, a bumper of an old F-150, a few tires, a shoe, underwear, and once I got a sheephead that actually had two jointed Rapalas stuck in either side of his mouth! That was quite a lucky fish to catch lol. Oh and in Florida I accidentally snagged a little gator foot, luckily with only a small bare hook. He decided to keep the hook. Quote
Stickling Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 Ok, on accident ive cought, a brim on a bass lure, a sea bass on a crab trap at the beach, a chain pickeral < i hate those stupid fish, they have ruined 1 too many lures. and ive cought myself twice. I put up a nice fight. Quote
squid Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 I caught a baby gill on a baby torpedo. The gill was smaller than the bait, and I didn't know I had it on the hook till I got it into the boat. Tritonman and his son had a good laugh at me for MONTHS!! Wish we had a camera that day...lol Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted February 18, 2005 Super User Posted February 18, 2005 Last summer I thought I had the bass of a life time on. He wrapped me around a tree that was 6-7 foot down. After 25 mins of trying to get it loose she finally came up. And of course it was a 10 lb channel cat. He sure was the greenest looking catfish under water. I am also well known for the extreme size of tree and log bass I catch. Quote
Aaron_S Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 I have caught a perch on a spinnerbait, plenty of bluegill on the spinnerbait as well, and not to mention the number of catfish on Rat L Traps and other crankbaits. Quote
Fisher of Men Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 Two of the nicest Channel Cats I've ever caught were on the same outing from a large stock pond in my two-man boat; both went over 5 pounds: Catfish #1- was caught on a black chugger topwater. Catfish #2- was caught on a spinnerbait I put them on the stringer to take home and they towed my little boat around like a team of horses. ;D I've caught many other channel and mudcats on Berkely powerworms and thought they were massive bass when they thumped it hard. Fisher of Men Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 And Rich: Are you sure you weren't fishing over a garbage dump? ;D and, I hope you let that other fish go after removing the Rapala's. It looks like it was his destiny to get away. Quote
coldsteel Posted February 19, 2005 Posted February 19, 2005 My friend caught a mountain bike...lol ;D He thinks someone stole it then ditched it in his lake... Quote

Stickling Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 i saw that happen at the beach last year, it was really windy and someone casted into the wind and it got the birds body so the yreeled it in somehow and got it pinned to the peir and got it unhooked. was pretty crazy. Quote
Chris Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I was fishing a zara spook and the darn thing spotted it and made a rush to it and grabbed it. Then the stupid thing started to fly off with it. I got mad and snapped my rod and the thing dropped in midflight and hit the water. Quote
Pond-Pro Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I caught a big bluegill on a four inch senko. I can not figure out how he got the 1/0 widegap hook in his mouth. I have also caught a rock bass on the same lure. I have also caught a three foot log that I was sure was a musky. That was a big let down. :'( Quote
Stickling Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 muskys are crazy lookin fish, I live no where near them sadly... Quote
Will Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 I found this at the bassmaster website in the little notes at the bottom the articles. Weirdest catch "The weirdest thing I ever caught was a body," South Carolina pro Jason Quinn said. "It happened on Lake Norman when I was 14 years old on a Zara Spook. I was fishing a point and a lot of boat traffic was coming by. I was walking a Spook on a point and all of a sudden, when a wave went down, this guy's head appeared. He had anchors tied to his legs and they said he had been in the water for two weeks. He apparently committed suicide." Quote
Phishnutz Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 CRABS!!! :-X And they wouldn't go away. ;D Quote
bassin4life Posted February 24, 2005 Posted February 24, 2005 crappie, catfish, suckerfish which is a type of shad ... and a duck man that duck got a hook in its leg and took abt 100 yrd off my rod lol Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted February 26, 2005 Super User Posted February 26, 2005 My dog!!! It was the first time I ever took him with me fishing. It was early in the morning and I threw a popper before I got out on the water from the boat ramp. Of course, my yellow lab jumped in after it and retrieved it for me > >. He managed not to get hooked thank god. Quote
Tom Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 I was trolling for walleye on Deep Creek Lake and ended up coming about an ounce short of the Maryland State record pickerel. Quote
AOY Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Fishing for crappie below the dam here a while back and caught a 10lb+ gar on 4 lb test. Took me about 15 minutes to reel him in and I had to constantly tweak my drag. He was hooked in the side. Not a prize fish-here anyway-but fun as heck! I also figured out why there weren't any crappie still in that spot! Quote
rtb101 Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 A good-sized muskie on a little crappie jig. I had him to the boat and he broke the 6 pound test line. Quote
