went to silver lake (washington) over the weekend to do a little crappie fishing. the crappie on this lake school up like crazy in the fall. they go up into these canals that snake through the brush. they are about 5' at the deepest in the middle and about 50' at the widest. the shoreline is covered with lily pads and brush..... and hungry crappie! whats cool about this lake also is that it has white crappie, one of the only washington lakes that has them. most of the fish were only about 8" with some up to 11" but when you get over 100 in a couple hours, it's still a lot of fun.

a couple of 11" white crappies. picture wasn't taken in the canal. in the other pics you can kinda see the canal.....

Awesome job on the crappie.  I haven't caught a good mess of crappie in a while, the last time I did was back in last year.  ;)

I used to live just south of there, and went to Silver Lake all the time... I can remember those days of catching crappie till you were tired of reeling them in... no matter what you threw out there on the hook..

Nice fish, you catch any nice bass out of there????

the bass were having a bad case of lock jaw. there was a bass tourny that weekend and they wern't catching any either. the first day of the tourny the big bag was a little over 6lbs. it was ugly. i got a couple dinks and one decent 1.5lber next to a log on a senko next to the island. it really starts to make you made when you see all thos pics of 6lb-8lbers in the store. did you ever get any good sized crappie out of there? like over 12"?

The biggest crappie i caught out of Silver Lake was 12.5 in... and man did it taste good  ;D :-?

Love fishing the edges of all those lilly pads.

I wish there was more public access to the lake though.

The last time I was on the lake, I got a rope tangled in my prop.  I pulled the rope up and it had an anchor tied to it  ;D.  Bonus time!!!!!
