Super User bilgerat Posted July 30, 2010 Super User Posted July 30, 2010 That reminds me that I have a pack of Yum Doozees I never tried out... As for purchases, I got myself a fishing kayak a couple of months ago: http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?i=420899&pdesc=Perception_Sport_Caster_12_5_Angler_Kayak&aID=504M2&merchID=4006 Got a deal on it at Dick's during a Memorial Day sale. Came ready to go with a rod holder, seat and anchor. It's a tad heavy for a kayak at around 60 lbs, but it is rated for 400 lbs ( I don't think so) and it's 12.5' long. Very stable and quick through the water. Quote
Big Tom Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 You seen some of the new GIGANTIC tubes starting to permeate the market? LMAO, they look ridiculous. 16" tubes! I heard a couple guides talking about these not long ago. I have yet to see one. Just got in to musky fishing last fall. Didn't catch anything the weekend we tried but I had a monster slam a double cowgirl I was throwing. The combination of fear, excitement, and not enough rod caused me to not catch it. Hopefully by this fall I will be ready for them. I'd like to head out there again this fall, think he'd be up for it? This is what we'll throw, we all like throwing a tube. 12'' It certainly isn't the craziest looking musky lure. That title belongs to the cowdussa. I think he will be up for it. That may be the next rod I actually purchase. Bass tackle just don't cut it. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted July 31, 2010 Super User Posted July 31, 2010 I make 2 types of tubes, 1 is about 18" with 2 or 3 3/0 trebles. The other is 12' or so made with a 12/0 limerick hook( gives it spinning action ). Primarily used for cuda, stripers, kingfish, cobia, I made a smaller version about 8" with a 7/0 limerick hook that I have used successfully for lmb and think it would be a great musky bait. Made from latex surgical tubing and 60#coated wire. Very durable lasts many many strikes. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted July 31, 2010 Super User Posted July 31, 2010 I haven't purchased much over the past few years fishing wise but this year i probaly spent over $1,500 on lures so far. I stock up on what i like to use thats successful most of the time before it gets discontinued like my BPS Topnocker. Plus if the end of the world as we know it is comming in 2012 i want to have enough fishing tackle so i can still fish if i survive it. I have some awesome water sheds nearby too. I just turned 59 1/2 yo so i can get my IRA /401 retirement so i can get a new bass boat, build a new house at my camp and sit back and watch the corn grow more often and fish more!!!!! It pays to save!!!!! I'm not rich but i can get by with what i have. Remember to save now and buy stuff on clearance/sales/discounts too stretch your dollars. Being retired is pretty good now. I'd rather have a new bass boat than a new corvette because its kind of hard to stand on the hood of a vette and fish from it while its in the water. (sinking dock) The wife said bass boat but i'd be happy with a row boat with a new briggs & stratton 5hp outboard 4 cycle. Then i can get into the smaller places too. Quote

Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted August 2, 2010 Super User Posted August 2, 2010 Haha, that is awesome. I have a rod that will throw it, too. ;D Seriously, that thing would likely get demolished by a striper at Raystown. Some of the local shops sell small rainbow trout as bait. Obviously, nothing that big, but I still bet it would get eaten eventually. Quote
1inStripes Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 OJ burns when it comes back out your nose. Thats a great looking bait J Francho. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted August 2, 2010 Super User Posted August 2, 2010 Bad bait monkey! BAD! Flappin Hogs Beavers Dippers Another Crucial Another PQ Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 2, 2010 Super User Posted August 2, 2010 You need to crop those dippers out of the picture, and never again mention them online, or within earshot of anyone. They don't work. Quote

I have caught a few pigs at one lake that has lilypad fields as far as the eye can see. That's one advantage of a kayak; I can get where most won't dare go. Quote
