Hey Wayne-o, did the Carrot break right after that cast? lol

LOL, nah.  That thing is a tank.  I got one of the good ones.  Still using it for my topwater "working" swimbaits.

You can cast those swimbaits about 100000000000000000000 yards with that stick... Just sayin!

I think I posted before about my feelings on light tents.....they are for sissies!  :D

Two sources, 4'x4' softbox, and hard incandescent hot light for drama.

Two reasons that explain disdain for tent, other than its just pure lazy photography:

Large items, try putting a 13' rod in a tent, LOL:

See where you'd get trying to pull this off with a tent:

I think I had like six gobos, some black, and some white all over the place, and I still showed up in the picture, LOL.

I have no idea Wha-tha-F you two are talking about.

Francho, you keep your 13' "rod in a tent" to yourself. Lay off the blue pills man...

Yeah, but I REFUSE to play with a wanker that calls a guitar an axe.   ;D :D

LOL I don't usually... I actually just sold my electric. I have an old Penco that was made locally, it was my great grandmothers, it has doves and all kinds of 70's stuff on it... Amazing! Sounds great, but looks super girly. It sat in a closet from about 79 until last year, every single string was still in tune when I tried it!

You say that like its a negative.  Sounds right up your alley!   ;D

That hurts man.... You cut me deep!

Anyway, I used to have a Gibson Les Paul custom (it was cut like an SG). White, 3 humbuckers with all gold hardware. That thing had such a warm sound to it! I can't believe I ever got rid of that! I'll buy another one someday :(

Used to play with a guy that used a legit vintage SG.  Loved that thing.

Lucky! Someday I'll buy myself one... But by that time, the guitars being made now will be vintage :P

Here's a good example of a shot that would have benefitted from HDRI:

See how where the light beam hits the grass it's all washed out? If I would have been paying attention to my histogram, I would have saw that it was washed out and took another photo with a faster shutter speed to make it darker, then combine the two.

That's a nice shot.  You should have put that sucker on timer, and jumped into the sunlight....or better yet, have a model there, LOL.

You can use the spot meter, and manual mode to expose for the sunlit spot, and then bring up the rest of the scene using a combination of Fill Light in Camera Raw, and a controlled dodge and burn using this method:

Great shot Nate!

Are you shooting in RAW? What metering mode were you using?

Sweet kit Francho.  I have played for years but unfortunately had to sell my kit to pay for school years ago and never got back into it.  I had a Mapex maple jazz kit.  I loved that thing.  I could put my whole kit easily into the back of the car.  Small kit but such a sweet sound.

So that's what fill light is for! LOL I see that in Lightroom but never really used it.

I think my metering was on center weighted. I need to start keeping track. I never really got into reading EXIF data, are the metering settings in there? Just about everything else is LOL

I actually took that while I was driving to my favorite spot on Penn's Creek. I don't suggest driving and shooting though :P

Oh, forgot to answer - That wasn't shot in RAW. My wife uses the camera sometimes and I usually turn it back to just jpg for her (she don't like messing with photos and usually its ebay stuff anyway). Totally forgot to put it back on RAW before I left :(
