Get ahold of me when you come to Gettysburg.  I may be able to show you some things in the area and there is also a great microbrewery in town if you like to have a beer.

Sounds good! I usually make it to G-Burg at least 4 or 5 times a year. I love the whole area, very laid back. If you know of any technical jobs in the area, send them my way :P

Coming from the fella that openly admitted a crush on ABLE2DISABLE?

Holds no water with me. You pitiful attempt is laughable.

waitin' for the day he can fish with Dad. :)

Had him out once... He wanted to cast the entire time. I'd throw his worm out, he would keep 'casting'. After I got him over that, he wanted to chase the minnows. I'll give him a few more months and try again :)

It's great though, I have him trained. Every time we pass any form of water (lake, river, stream, etc...) all we hear out of him is "FISHY, FISHY!" Mom is so proud of me :P

Ok......still new to this and am looking for a lens for a canon EF series lens that will be better to shoot with in Low light conditions.  Any preferences or suggestions.  I have tons of athletic events for the kids and it can be difficult to get a good shot without blurring of the image.  I also like to shoot the wildlife in the back yard and usually they come out at dusk when the light is low.  I have a 75-300 cannon lens that has an Aperture of 4-5.6, and think that is probably the issue.  I have tried running the ISO up as high as I can, any help????  Thanks in advance.

That 75-300mm isn't working? I have a Minolta 75-300mm F4-5.6 and I use it for wildlife and some faster moving objects. I usually run my ISO (indoors) at 400 and try and keep the aperture open as far as I can (lower F stop means bigger opening).

Getting a longer lens at a low F stop is going to get costly. I haven't priced Canon lenses, but I know something like that for my Alpha would probably run about $600 for a cheap one. I did some quick looking on B&H Photo and about the cheapest telephoto at F2.1 was going to run you about $370 (and that was only 100mm). Look on ebay or craigslist for used ones. I have a few used lenses from ebay that look and work like a new lens.

I might just have to play with the settings to get the f-stop lower and see where that takes me.  Like I said, I am still learning this whole camera thing.  When you shoot in low light do you use your tripod or free hand?

Posted

Try to use a tripod whenever you can, but if the objects are moving it isn't going to help much. I try and use a tripod with any shot that the shutter is set to 1/20 or slower. I get pampered with having Steady Shot in my camera :P I usually turn it off though because when you use a tripod, it can actually make things a little less sharp.

Long, fast glass doesn't come cheap.  Feel free to price out my EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS, LOL.

The best value is probably in the primes.  It'll cost you though.  EF200 f/2.8L is around $700.  The 400 f/5.6 is around $1200.  I had this lens for baseball, and its awesome, though huge.  There is a the vanilla 70-200 f/4L that can be found for $600 on the used market.  Keep in mind, the term "fast" is relative.  f/4 for a lens with a focal length > than 200mm is fast.  On a wide prime, you can find reasonable priced lenses that have a max (widest) aperture setting of f/1.4.  The EF50 f/1.4 USM comes to mind.

Separated at birth, and by a few pounds? I knew I'd seen that picture before.
