NateFollmer Posted September 24, 2010 Author Posted September 24, 2010 ya'lls shots are just so clean! I REALLY need to learn how to use a program to clean up my photos! Many of my shots are straight out of the camera. These days, if I can't get it done in DPP or Adobe Camera Raw, then its not a good shot. And that's why your a photographer and I'm a photoshop-rapher Quote

You'd be a monster with off camera lighting. Quote

I'm not blaming the camera, but this thing is horrible in low light (anything over ISO800 is horrible) and I shoot mostly at dusk I love shooting in winter though, all that reflecting light makes life easier Quote
nick76 Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 I might have missed it, but what kind of camera are you shooting with? I have two of them....I shoot with a canon rebel xt and then I also shoot with a d30. Both are nice, but less options on the rebel xt. Quote
NateFollmer Posted September 26, 2010 Author Posted September 26, 2010 Sony Alpha a230. Good camera, my only gripe is that Iso 1600 and Iso 3200 are all but unusable due to noise. My buddies rebel does fine at these levels (they have a better sensor). Still a good camera for the money though. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted September 26, 2010 Super User Posted September 26, 2010 Pic from this a.m. from my pocket camera I take with me fishing........ Quote
Stringjam Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Some seriously beautiful shots in this thread, and some very good photographers /editors! I belong in the wanna-be, n00b group, but I'll play along anyway.. ;D Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 27, 2010 Super User Posted September 27, 2010 SJ, your pics are without question. Guys, if you are really interested in off camera lighting, checkout the Strobist. Sunday..... Quote

NateFollmer Posted September 27, 2010 Author Posted September 27, 2010 fourbizz, I don't know why you think you don't have skills. That's a great shot! It's not the equipment, it's the person shooting. I've seen some amazing photos come from point and shoots. Same with you String, you have some great photos. Did you shoot that lure? I'm currently working on a product shoot box Flowers 2 by nate.follmer, on Flickr Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 27, 2010 Super User Posted September 27, 2010 I'm currently working on a product shoot box Light tents are for sissies. I'll PM you some pics of an easier setup. Quote
NateFollmer Posted September 27, 2010 Author Posted September 27, 2010 Ok cool. I was just going to paint the inside of a cardboard box white, cut the sides out and put white tissue paper over it, get a white piece of card stock for the back (to curve the edges), place two lights beside the tissue paper and call it finished Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 27, 2010 Super User Posted September 27, 2010 All you need is a white ceiling. Bounce the main light off the ceiling. Block the front of the light to reduce any specular highlights. Use white and black cardboard "gobos" to "paint" reflections on shiny items. This type of arrangement gets you: Quote
NateFollmer Posted September 27, 2010 Author Posted September 27, 2010 Well that's a heck of a lot easier... Thanks! I'll have to go get some poster board tonight and give it a shot (literally). The wife started sewing all kinds of good stuff and I want to give her a better presentation than the couch Quote
