Super User bilgerat Posted March 18, 2011 Super User Posted March 18, 2011 Oh yay, France says they're with us and Britain. That'll last about four minutes. They'll probably let Gadhafi live there after he gets overthrown and protect him until he dies.
zero limit Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Cant the U.S just stay out of something for once? Seriously, why is it that we police the world? It's what we do, Their are bombing schools, hospitals and residentual neighborhoods
Chaz Hickcox Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Cant the U.S just stay out of something for once? Seriously, why is it that we police the world? Good thing France didn't say that in 1781.
preach4bass Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Cant the U.S just stay out of something for once? Seriously, why is it that we police the world? We're getting involved in this conflict because it's the right thing to do.
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 19, 2011 Super User Posted March 19, 2011 U.S. Imports very little oil from Libya, Canada & Mexico lead the way on oil exports to the U.S., Saudi Arabia #3. Most points of view I've heard are not along party lines, it's about finacing, whether the military is strong enough to handle a 3 rd war and the moral conviction. This is not a politacal statement it's fact, the Prez cannot authorize troops to fight anywhere without congressional approval, unless we have been attacked or are in iminent danger, neither is reality
Chaz Hickcox Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 I say we should import from the Republic of Texas, or maybe Alaska. I hear they are really hard working people and they don't have that pesky dictator thing getting in the way.

Economically speaking, it costs less to import oil from Mexico than it does to ship Alaskan crude to refineries in this country. Most Alaskan crude is actually shipped and sold to Japan.
Chaz Hickcox Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Hmm, interesting, but it makes sense. Alaska is pretty hard to get to.
Super User Root beer Posted March 19, 2011 Super User Posted March 19, 2011 U.S. Imports very little oil from Libya, Canada & Mexico lead the way on oil exports to the U.S., Saudi Arabia #3. Price of oil is globalized. Where it's imported or exported doesn't matter.
Super User J Francho Posted March 19, 2011 Super User Posted March 19, 2011 Interesting stuff, but let's stick to fishing. This is too close to political for comfort.
