Every single word I've read over so far ! All just 100% truth ! I've been saying this all of my adult life. But rarely have I met anyone who agreed. Then to actually find a website, about a movement like this.... I really thought I was one of the only human beings who cared about the destruction our species is causing. {I'm not finger pointing here.... I'm talking about human beings as a whole, myself included ! And every additional human being, poses an additional problem.}

In a lot of respects, I enjoy being the oddball, who thinks for himself, and goes his own separate way, in spite of the masses.... But on the other hand, it is kind of comforting to find out I'm not the only one who thinks this way.

May we live long and die out

Peace,

Fish

We need to reach zero population growth before everything is destroyed. It is good that not every country is as affluent as the US or it would be destroyed already.

Chris, I'm pretty sure you've surpassed your weight-loss goals.  All of the fat is gone, and now you are eating away at your brain cells.  And, from the looks of things, there aren't too many of those left either. ;D

On a serious note: Philosophically speaking, why haven't members of the VHEMT committed mass suicide yet?  That is the logical and quickest way to reach the goal, isn't it?  Unless, of course, the VHEMT consists of extremely selfish people, who want the world all to themselves, and don't care about their fellow man. :-/

Here's some critical thinking regarding that topic. It's not as simple as that. Nature runs in cycles. Nothing is constant.  There is no ideal population number for any species, including man.

When there is plenty of prey, the population of predators increases, diminishing the population of prey, which in turn diminishes the number of predators. Then the prey population increases.

What about year classes of fish? Sometimes nature conspires to kill of an abnormally high percent of the young. Other years it provides ideal conditions for spawning and survival.

Why do we have bumper crops, and other years where weather wipes out crops.

When, and if, humans reach the saturation point, nature will take care of things. Man is but another animal on the face of the earth doing what comes naturally.

Some folks think they know what's better for the earth than others. Pesonally, I don't think they have enough to do. Too much idle time on their hands.

They'd prefer we all go back to living in caves, with no boats or automobiles.

This question, by a previous poster, says it quite nicely. On a serious note: Philosophically speaking, why haven't members of the VHEMT committed mass suicide yet?

You hate sports and you think humans should stop breeding.

I don't think I would like spending time with you.

Crowded conditions and resource shortages will improve as we become less dense.

I find the various meanings of "dense" here to be particularly humorous.  Hopefully, the group becomes less "dense" as a whole.

Isn't there already a prophecy that spells out an involuntary scenario for removing all of us from this planet?  And aren't there a whole lot of people who have no problem with that happening?

Just saying.....  Mankind has been trying to improve on ways to carry out their own involuntary extinction for an awfully long time.   :)

The French have done something like this. They are missing two generations of children due to the unpopularity of breeding. Doing this has created a void in their population. That void is being filled by other cultures, mainly middle eastern Muslims. The Muslim population is rapidly increasing in France. So if we were to do this I feel as though other cultures would just move in and eventually take over.

People were crying "overpopulation" 300 years ago in Europe. But, I do agree to a certain extent, as our numbers will eventually become a problem as we near Earth's carrying capacity.

But as a self proclaimed population biologist/geneticist/historian, I believe that the Earth is stronger than us. It will take care of things if crap starts hitting the fan.

This is not a "movement" we'll see catch on anytime soon (the only way to accomplish population control would be through genocide and fascism.  And when you start talking about those kinds of things...you start to think about "who" we should start with...and that just spawns liberal eugenics :-X). The best thing we can do right now is be as environmentally friendly as possible.

Well, I wouldn't be opposed to initiating the program

in California, starting with San Francisco.

Really just the dumbest thing I think I have ever read about.  Without even trying to argue the skewed logic- one could sum it up in one sentence.

Everytime humans think they are more powerful or the driving force on earth- mother nature quickly to smack us back down to our place.

Rather than being nihilistic, saying nothing can be done, and continue to live pigishly or, conversely, adopting a self-loathing attitude believing that humans are parasitic vermin and that we need to voluntarily become instinct, wouldn't it be better to work towards a better future of informed and responsible living.  Instead of promoting zero (or negative) population, encourage modest family sizes.  Instead of driving a gas guzzling behemoth to work every day, take the bus or drive a modesty sized vehicle.  Instead of keeping the thermostat at 75, turn it down to 65 and lower at night.  The world could be a better place and it still can be but VHEMTwill not fly with the masses nor, probably, should it.

I've heard the numbers run that concluded that every man, woman and child on earth could be put in 2000 square ft homes for every 4  people and the houses would cover an area equal in size to the state of Texas. Leaving the rest of the planet for food, water, .... Granted a substantial amount of that area is either water or desert but I think the point is still valid.

Wouldn't that be genocide?

I mean no offense to the mental challenged, but this "Vehement" theory is the most retarded theory I've ever read or heard. It makes Scientology look like a sensible option.

Chris, you can't be serious.  The end doesn't justify the means in this case.

I'm Not Comparing Anyone On Here To Hitler So Don't Take It Like That.

Communism Is built around the Idea that a master race must be built by weeding out the "weaker" members of the human race.

A guy named Hitler kinda had the same idea only he was hoping for a pure race.

So now we are going to start getting ride of people so we can help the biosphere?

I got an idea all those in favor of giving their life for the good of earth go ahead and do so, hey its your idea not mine> I'm personally not read to get off this burning rock just yet.

Not saying I want any member who believes this um..."other" way of thinking to die but seriously that's what their saying

Personally I think God put us here and he will take us out of here when he wants, we don't have to help him.
