b.Lee Posted January 11, 2011 Author Posted January 11, 2011 Because most of my time on the water is spent with small people under the age of 16...that are related to me...closely. I like how you added that part in the end, save a little face. Reviving an old thread for some new names. Quote
fishermantony Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I grew up fishing ponds in and around Chicago, walked to most of them. When I became a teenager my friends and I would hang out outside of the shopping center before we got our beer and went into the Forrest preserve. We'd hang out there other times too when there was nothing to do. (Yea, I know, the life of teenager with no car and not a whole lot going on.) Well the one thing I had going on was fishing.....and to walk to a couple of the ponds I fished I had to pass the shopping center we hung out at. On my way to or back from the ponds I would sometimes stop and talk to my friends. One friend in particular John who we called Pirate hung out at the shopping center the most, and after a while of me coming up to talk with my rod in my hand, he began to call me fisherman tony. I was always proud that I got recognized as being a fisherman at that time and finally found the perfect place (bass resource) to use it! Quote
fishermantony Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I'm a Pantera fan. Cowboys from hell rocks! Yeaaaaaa! Seen them 3 times in Chicago! Quote
SharkHat Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Mine came from a Paula Poundstone show where she interviews a guy who was attacked by a shark. It bit his head and dragged him out to sea before letting go. Paula made a comment similar to "Oh, so just like getting a nice little shark hat", and I laughed until I couldn't breathe anymore. I've been using the name online ever since. (no, the guy in the avatar is not me) Quote

ROCbass Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 My old one, Shaner1988, is my childhood nickname and the year I was born. My new one is ROCbass because I live in Rochester, which is sometimes referred to as the ROC, and I like bass fishing. It is also a play on the name of my favorite panfish, the rock bass. Quote
Fish Chris Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 One might think my handle is just because I fish a lot. But I'm not sure how many people know, that I kept tropical, saltwater, and cold water native fish in aquariums for most of my life..... worked in 3 different tropical fish stores.... worked on a fish farm in Arkansas.... and have basically been studying fish my whole life. Not that it's really important (very often, anyway) but I can recite the first and last Latin names of probably 1000 species of fish ! Holy Stigmatagobius Sadanundio ! Oh, and BTW, 'Fish Chris' has been my nickname for about 30 years.... long before I ever visited Internet forums, or even owned a PC for that matter. Peace, Fish Quote
Nibbles Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 My name stems from my uncanny ability to draw nibbles from fish only to set the hook into either nothing or a nasty stump. That and my propensity to nibble on any food I can get my hands on when I'm left unchecked. ;D Quote
Mr SwimJig Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 My name represents my favorite bait, a swim jig. SJ Quote
