Captain Obvious Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Ok here we go... Nature: The essential qualities or characteristics by which something is recognized; "it is the nature of fire to burn"; "the true nature of jealousy" Temperament: disposition: your usual mood; "he has a happy disposition" I'm talking about a Pit bulls Nature they were bred so that they would be natural fighters because man needed an aggressive breed of dog to fight other dogs or animals. You are talking about Temperament you are claiming you can teach these dogs to be sweet a gentle. I agree you can change a dogs temperament, you can change a lions temperament if you wanted to. No one can change a Pits nature.
B-Dozer Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 It's man's nature to kill, conquer, take what doesn't belong to him, and be prejudiced. Not just my opinion, it's history. Man is far more violent than any OTHER animal. That's why man is the top animal, we are most violent.

Man also has the use of reason though which he can overcome his nature. Animals do not have the use of reason and act according to their nature.
B-Dozer Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Uhhh Tex, Man is an animal. So there is a comparison.
B-Dozer Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 And when did we "overcome" our nature. We kill one another every second.

No one can change a Pits nature. If you want to talk about a dogs nature then we might as well start at the beginning because by definition you cant change nature. Todays dog came from wolves, coyotes, wild dogs etc. And that means all dogs big and small. So by Nature there all wolves at heart. Would you trust a wolf? So why trust any dog. I say we ban all dogs because they are in fact wolves. While were at it we should get rid of wolves because eventually someone will breed them back into dogs so they can be fought. I love sarcasm. What i'm trying to get at is you cannot ban any dog it will never solve the problem. All you can do is to make laws and make sure they are enforced. There are always gonna be accidents with any kind of dog some more than others. And ask yourself this if pitbulls were banned would that end the amount of dog attacks? or do you think those guys you know that fight dogs would find another breed to fight starting the cycle all over again?
jamarkwe Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Nice brindle, how old is (he)? Dora is 5 years old
B-Dozer Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Nice brindle, how old is (he)? Dora is 5 years old Nice! She looks younger, always liked the brindles, not too common.
Captain Obvious Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 And when did we "overcome" our nature. We kill one another every second. I said we could overcome our nature not that we always do. Today's dog came from wolves, coyotes, wild dogs etc. And that means all dogs big and small. So by Nature there all wolves at heart. Correct have you noticed that dogs and wolves look a lot alike? They still have the same nature. But this conversation isn't about wolves is it. Humans were smart and found out that wolves can't be trusted, I'm suggesting that maybe its time we do the same for pit bulls.
B-Dozer Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Texas is #2 in gun related deaths. We should ban guns, or Texans, or both. Hopeless

Super User roadwarrior Posted March 1, 2011 Super User Posted March 1, 2011 This has been entertaining, but seems to be getting bogged down after 6 pages..."Ban guns or Texans or both." That was pretty funny! Anyhow, let's move on. Goodnight Irene. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
