Fat-G Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 I took my Accord muddin' today with some of my buddies. It was my first time doing it, and it will definitely happen again. I know that a sedan isn't meant for this, but it held up surprisingly well. Never sniffed getting stuck. This is probably a "teen testosterone" kind of thing, but it was a blast. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted February 25, 2011 Super User Posted February 25, 2011 You went muddin today? It snowed where I live today! :-/ Quote
Fat-G Posted February 25, 2011 Author Posted February 25, 2011 You went muddin today? It snowed where I live today! :-/ 70 and windy here. This actually started as a joke. I just really wanted to get it stuck, but it turned out to be really good in the mud... considering it's a Honda Accord. Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted February 25, 2011 Super User Posted February 25, 2011 I used to do the same thing until I realized just how much damage I was doing to my 4x4. You will eventually get it out of your system when the repair bills start rolling in. Quote
moby bass Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Yeh, my son took his 4wd Ranger out. New alternator, new radiator (plugged the old one with mud), had to clean all the brakes. He had mud up in the cross member, the control arms, the driveshaft u joints, and just about everywhere else you could think of under there. Took hours to clean, scrape and hose hundreds of pounds of caked mud out from under that truck. He's still alive...only because it's illegal to kill him. > Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted February 26, 2011 Super User Posted February 26, 2011 thats like taking air soft guns to war. Quote
hookingem Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 haha I used to do something similar in my 5 speed 91 Honda civic with 230k on it. Now i have a mazdaspeed 3 and cringe at the thought of hitting a pothole. Quote
Fat-G Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 thats like taking air soft guns to war. You know you're under-equiped when the splash you make in a puddle is higher than the car. It was alot more fun than I thought it would be! Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 26, 2011 Super User Posted February 26, 2011 YOU HAVE A DRIVERS LICENSE??????????? I better keep my eyes open in the neighborhood!!!! So we can meet at Hobbyhill and other places which would be great. Don't break your wheels. And remember, Chesterfield Police don't have good senses of humor so don't do anything illegal. Be safe. tipptruck1 Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I really never did the muding thing as a teenager. I guess I had to drive on dirt roads on a daily basis. After a few miles on them in the rain my car would look like your car. So I guess I had no interest on getting my car dirty for fun. Plus mudding was way to boring for me way to slow. Right now I have a srt-4 and I am not scared to get it dirty. Its just dirt it will wash off. I will go off road if I have to. Just the tires don't don't like the dirt. I do know that for every Minute in the mud equals a hour of cleaning. My buddy's have asked me to help them clean there trucks after mudding. I just say no. There dumb enough to go through the mud they can clean it. How about this. It says you live in VA. Go down south and find some dirt roads and try this. might have a little more fun of dirt roads. I am not telling you to go sliding around turns or taking jumps. You and your buddys will get a road trip. Plus your car will get muddy. Quote
Fat-G Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 It definitely wasn't slow. Just a big lot of mud, and I just gunned it the whole time. It was a hell of a time. Can't wait till I have a truck. Quote
Fat-G Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 Sam, a cop drove by and gave us a thumbs up. I don't think our luck will ways be that good. We were in the back of a neighborhood on an abandoned lot, so it wasn't a big deal. Quote

You know you're under-equiped when the splash you make in a puddle is higher than the car. It was alot more fun than I thought it would be! my first car was a 1967 GTO and i worked and saved for years to get that thing. i would have rather jumped off a bridge with a rope around my neck than go mudding in the car. not to mention my father beating me limp once he laid eyes on the car. you should buy you an old, cheap beater to go mudding in. tipptruck1 Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 First off you probably got off because your using what looks like a accord with street tires. That will not tear up the ground no were near what 35in truck tires would. Also some one owns that lot weather you know it or not. It could be the city or a private owner. So I would be careful about destroying land that you have no clue who owns it. Second I see major repair bills and tow bills in your future. Just because you have a truck with 35in tires and a lift don't mean you can go through mud at speed. You cant even go through mud that is 2 inches deep at speed. You have to go slow other wise you will have no traction or break things . If you try to go through mud that is mid tire deep and at 60mph you will break a lot of things. For some reason I have a feeling you won't listen in till you destroy your transfer case, cv joints, drive shaft, and tranny all at once. Thats all I have to say. That is also the reason why I wont mud. The deeper the mud the more it cost you. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted February 26, 2011 Super User Posted February 26, 2011 My cousin messed up his truck pretty good when he took it muddin'. For some reason he hasn't went back when he got a new truck..I wonder why. Quote
Fat-G Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 It really wasn't "mud", more like wet ground with some puddles. I floored it and the wheels spun, thus the sides of the car covered in mud. Either way, it was fun as hell. The fastest I went was probably 25 tops. It was more of just trying to keep the car in control. I would get stuck VERY fast if the mud had been deeper than an inch, but it wasn't. Quote
