bass or bass ? Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I like French Market brand with chicory. I use half & half too. Quote

Super User Sam Posted February 23, 2011 Super User Posted February 23, 2011 Yes, Burley wins this one, hands down. Half and half is what I was brought up on in New Orleans. Still enjoy it that way. As for brands, I like Community better than French Market or Luzzianne. My nephew in NOLA still uses distilled water. I use hose water. But his coffee is better than mine. I would tell you guys something funny when my wife visited New Orleans and ordered her cup of coffee with the beignets, but J. Francho would remove the post as he has done in the past when I get a little wild and crazy. It is now: Burley 1 Everyone Else 0 !!! ;D ;D ;D Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted February 23, 2011 BassResource.com Administrator Posted February 23, 2011 I was just there in NOLA. Tried both Community and Cafe Du Monde. While both were good, I wasn't overly impressed with either. Right about on par with Starbucks - maybe slightly better. Sorry. I'm a Seattle coffee snob. It's really hard to beat French pressed coffee from a micro coffee company like Long Bottoms Coffee or Boca Java. Quote

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted February 23, 2011 BassResource.com Administrator Posted February 23, 2011 Sorry man. Are you gonna ban me now? Sorry, but I like a really strong, robust cup of coffee, and these places just don't make them that way. I want to taste the coffee, not the water. Quote

Sorry, but I like a really strong, robust cup of coffee, and these places just don't make them that way. I want to taste the coffee, not the water. That isn't the fault of the coffee, just the funzanoons making it. My co-workers are the same way. They'll make a 12 cup pot of coffee and only add two tablespoons of grounds. The stuff might as well be water. Take that Community New Orleans blend, two tablespoons per cup. So strong it'll straighten your pubes. Quote
Hamby Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 2 scoops per cup!? Holy cow. I'm new to the whole coffee scene and will drink anything that keeps me from getting caffeine withdrawl headaches. I usually do whatever kinda coffee and 4-6 tablespoons per 12 cups. Quote

Fish Chris Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Hmmmmm. I only drink 1 cup of coffee every morning. Granted, it's a 20 ounce mug of triple strength coffee I've tried several "upper end" coffee's, and some are okay (if I make it myself.... because again, it needs to be triple strength). But anyway, I stick to Folgers Gourmet Supreme.... which is about the strongest stuff they make. Oh, and I don't use a coffee pot. I just use a 20 ounce mug, and put enough grounds in the machine for medium sized pot Touch of International blends creamer, and a couple of Splenda's.... Bam ! I'm good to go Fish Quote
Super User Catt Posted February 23, 2011 Super User Posted February 23, 2011 Sorry y'all but "Na'Orleans" aint an example of Louisiana y'all need to get over near Lafayette to learn what Louisiana is all about. "Na'Orleans" is more Creole not Cajun, major differences. Try Community Dark Roast which their original coffee blend & the #1 coffee of Louisiana Quote
done Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I have been liking the Caribou coffee blends lately. Starbucks just tastes burnt to me, at least most of their blends do. Though we once had a friend who went to Hawaii and brought us back a fresh bag of Kona coffee from the islands. Was the BEST I have ever had. So good I had to hold a funeral for the bag when it was empty. Buried it out back next to the kids gerbils. Quote
Shad_Master Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Somebody gave me a gift card to Starbucks a couple of years ago - went there and was so confused! Had no idea how to just order a cup of coffee - had to be a "half-calf, decaf, mocha choke-a-chicken, with sprinkles or something" - I just threw the card away. Quote

Biscotti: also known as canuticcini or biscotti di Prato is a "twice baked cake " and originated in the village of Prato Italy. But I will concede it's eaten like a cookie. What ever you do don't eat them topped with sausage gravy. Quote
Shad_Master Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I thought sausage gravy was like ketchup - it makes everything tast better Quote

scbassin Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 There is nothing better than a good old cup of that Navy blend made on a diesel submarine with an enginemans sock thrown in for flavor( only after he has been crawling around in the bilge's for a week. It sure will keep you loose. ;D Quote
