OHIO Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 The Zac Brown Band is,IMHO, the best country group to come along for many years. Tom There aren't too many country groups coming about these days that are worth listening to and I don't think these guys are any different. There really aren't too many new country singers that are worth listening to either. This is all my opinion of course. Quote

Sfritr Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 The best part about Zac Brown band is that they have actually been around for a long time. I remember six years ago watching them play at a small bar in Michigan on country night. They were great then but nobody had heard of them yet. What a great show to see them play in a small venue for like 60 people. Really like them Quote

CAdeltaLipRipper Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Country these days are either a girl singing about how mad she is about a guy or like Taylor Swift where she's dreaming about being with a guy,And the guys either sing about partying and drinking beer or about how manly and tough and country they are and how people like them are better than everyone else like the song The Way Out Here by Josh Thompson. I like that song but lol come on now its just another song going on and on about how theyre better than everyone else when the fact is we're all freaking americans and people living in the same country there's no segregation.lol Quote

I don't really think Josh Thompson thinks he is better than everyone else. In that song he is just saying how they live and if people don't like it, they don't have to go there. Not really sure where you got the idea that he thinks he is better than anyone. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted February 6, 2011 Super User Posted February 6, 2011 I dig a lot of these new country music songs coming out. The older listeners hate it..I can respect that. It's the same thing with me and older rap music,I hate the new stuff out there right now as far as rap goes. Don't like it just ignore it.....plain and simple. Quote

1inStripes Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I took my wife to a Sugarland concert year before last for Mothers Day. They put on a great show, and Nettles is definitely easy to look at. As for old school/new school country music, one person I like to listen to that has an old school sound is Jamey Johnson. Quote

I haven't found one of his songs that I don't like except For the Good Times, but that's a cover. You should check out the cover he did of DAC's "The Ride." It's great. Quote
Stringjam Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 What are you some good Jamey Johnson songs? Not to offend anybody, but everything I've heard from him is...well....boring. Sounds like he's singing with a toothache. Just IMO. I admit I'm not much into the thick, almost manufactured hick accent that seems so prevalent in country now. And I'm a BIG fan of southern accents....but I grew up in the country. Heck, my family raised horses, cattle, barrel raced - the whole bit. I can't remember ever hearing people talk like some of these "country" singers twang it up. THIS is a beautiful southern accent (as well as a beautiful, well-written song by an almost-forgotten artist) Shoot.....I'd take Haley Williams singing country over half of the girls I hear now, and she's about as far from country as it gets. Not saying Josh Thompson himself in particular. In the song they say things like WE won't take a dime if we aint earned it, or "because its most of US that end up serving over seas". If he means us by americans and everyone in our country, then yes.But he's making it sound like they're some whole other race of people I myself prefer bands like the Zac Brown. Come to think of it they're probably my favorite country artist. Quote
