Scorcher214 Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I order a 7' rod from TW, cost $0 in shipping, but i payed $5 for quicker shipping. I order a 7' rod from BPS and it costs $11.50 dollars for shipping, $6 because it is 7' long, and if i want 2 day shipping, tack on another 12 bucks. $5 compared to $29.50....HOW DO THEY DO IT Quote
Super User burleytog Posted February 18, 2011 Super User Posted February 18, 2011 Not as much overhead as BPS. And by offering free shipping for orders >$50, they encourage more spending. I know I won't order unless I have >$50 of merchandise. And there have been many occasions where I'll increase an order to get the free shipping. One of many reasons TW is the absolute best tackle retailer in the country. Quote
JigMe Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 TW ship with UPS, and they offer volume discount. Many companies pays 5-6 bucks per package, where you would pay upto 15-17 dollars at an UPS store. Quote

Carrington Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 they make a big percentage off that rod which easily covers shipping. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 18, 2011 Super User Posted February 18, 2011 they make a big percentage off that rod which easily covers shipping. The wholesale cost for TW and BPS are the same or very close. TW is just a better deal, period! Quote
Scorcher214 Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 Yeah, TW is where i will be buying all my gear now. They seem to have a lot of the newer tackle and the shipping is NOICE. Only problem is that i have a $25 giftcard for BPS... Quote
Super User 5bass Posted February 18, 2011 Super User Posted February 18, 2011 They still pay a shipping cost but it's at a highly reduced rate. Companies get huge discounts for shipping a big volume of packages and making a commitment that just one of the delivery companies get ALL their freight. This is a very common practice. Quote
InLikeFinz Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Magic Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's magic too. J. Quote
