Super User webertime Posted February 14, 2011 Super User Posted February 14, 2011 What do I have to do to link youtube videos like you guys have (I done forgot). Thanks! Aaron Flinn, Born A Man Jose Gonzalez, Heartbeats (this is the same guy that did the song for Red Dead Revolver) Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, I Learned the Hard Way (little bit soul and funk, and actual instruments!) Cat Empire, 2 Shoes, Some new British Ska, Video Clip from one of my favorite MTB movies (first love) The Street Dogs, Final Transmission. This is the original lead singer, founder of the Dropkick Murphy's Adele, Rolling In the Deep. One of the few singers out there that don't need all sorts of effects to make their voices sound good, she's amazing. When in doubt put in a copy of The Last Waltz. Quote
bassman31783 Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Sadly very little impresses me of the music being made today. You either have to be ridiculously good or come up with a new sound & make it work. Truth is, is that I listen & thoroughly enjoy almost all music. You can play almost anything and i'll usually find something that I like about it, I just probably wont be impressed by it. As for the last music that I heard that truly "impressed" me were the VTT (Vital Tech Tones). I rarely listen to them because their not exactly listener friendly but their musicianship knocks me on my butt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0DYWfN2D-8 Quote

BassThumb Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I'm a huge music buff and collector. Arcade Fire, from Quebec, is without a doubt the most impressive and skilled new band I've heard in many years. They won the Best Album of the Year Grammy last night, with The Suburbs. It's really good to see a wholly original indie band become famous. Folks should check out their debut album first, Funeral. Here's my favorite two songs from it. I heard them on the HBO series Six Feet Under and I've been a huge fan of them ever since. Very entertaining live performances also. I saw them in Minneapolis last summer. It was great. Quote

OHIO Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Arcade Fire and The National are two recent favorites. Arcade Fire won the Best Album of the Year Grammy last night, with The Suburbs. Good to see a wholly original indie band finally getting some credit. Folks should check out their debut album, Funeral. Here's my favorite song from it. I used to listen to those guys all the time when I would skateboard. They were really good and I imagine still are, but I haven't heard them in awhile. That song is really good, but here is my favorite by them. I also listened to Animal Collective a lot. They are good, but kind of weird too. I really like Strawberry Jam. Quote

Stringjam Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 For me it was Keith Merrow: I never expected Keith to be brought up here, I don't think his first album is even out yet - - are you a member at SevenString.org? I dig a lot of his stuff.....Pillars of Creation is one of the best riffs I've heard in a LONG time. It just kicks a**. The last song I heard that impressed me? I was blasting this a few nights ago. Tonight I was grooving to one of my fav old Incubus songs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0ZRvxDrOxo Quote
OHIO Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Wow! That is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. What does an ice cream cone even symbolize? Quote

I have the Schecter Loomis 7 String and really dig his playing. Heart of the Sea Nymph is a really cool tune. Quote

I've never played a Loomis but the clips I've seen are impressive. Looks like a killer 7. I put together a 7-string Strat with some custom and obscure parts. I couldn't really find what I wanted (a pure Strat with a 7th string) and I couldn't afford a custom, so I hunted down an old Squire 7 body (hard to find.....like trying to hunt a unicorn ). Completely custom neck and a few other things. Quote

CAdeltaLipRipper Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 There's a little moonlight dancing on the sand There's a warm breeze blowing by the ocean as you're taking my hand You need to know, where I'm standing now That I'm right on the edge of giving into you Baby, it's a long way down If I fall, can you let me down easy If I leave my heart with you tonight will you promise me that you're gonna treat it right I'm barely hanging on If I fall, can you let me down easy The scent of your perfume floating in the air Looking like an angel laying on a blanket with a halo of hair And those lips, they're too good to be true Once I taste that kiss I know what'll happen I'll be at the mercy of you If I fall, can you let me down easy If I leave my heart with you tonight will you promise me that you're gonna treat it right I'm barely hanging on So if I fall, can you let me down easy If I fall, can you let me down easy If I leave my heart with you tonight will you promise me girl you're gonna treat it right I'm barely hanging on If I fall, can you let me down easy If I fall Can you let me down easy Let me down easy Mmmhmmm mmm Quote
