Super User roadwarrior Posted February 9, 2011 Author Super User Posted February 9, 2011 The city is closing down, the highways are jammed and the store shelves empty! We have about 4" on the ground already and the temperature has plunged to 27*. Snow is still heavy with more on its way! White Death IV and counting... Quote
Super User Raul Posted February 9, 2011 Super User Posted February 9, 2011 You southern guys need to move further to the south, down here it 's in the high 70 's, the only bothering event is that it 's been windy. Quote
B-Dozer Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Revenge is coming shortly Raul, we call it Summer Quote
Nibbles Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Summer isn't always so bad in the south. When I visited California for a month a few years back, I remember the summer evenings to be very mild, and sometimes downright chilly. Quote
B-Dozer Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I think he's from Mexico. Used to hearing people complain that the heat kept them from going out unless there was cloud cover. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 9, 2011 Author Super User Posted February 9, 2011 Temperatures have dropped into the teens and the snow has lightened up. I think we will end up with solid ice and 6-8" of snow. Memphis is CLOSED tomorrow. 8-) Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted February 10, 2011 Super User Posted February 10, 2011 Every school is out of school..... except for mine :'( it be cool to if that tear froze haha My kids used to say the same thing, until they realized that in order to meet the State minimum of school days per school year, they had to stay later into June at the end of the year. It's a private school and our normal schedule exceeds the requirements and our school days are longer by an hour and a half. Quote

Last year when VA got spanked and we missed nearly 2 months of school, we still got out regular, June 18th-ishh, but we started every school day 10 minutes earlier, and ended 10 minutes later. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted February 10, 2011 Super User Posted February 10, 2011 I know of a Liquors store or 2 in town that are still open and will be tomorrow as well! Jeff Quote
Super User Raul Posted February 10, 2011 Super User Posted February 10, 2011 Revenge is coming shortly Raul, we call it Summer I like summer, not my most favorite season because it gets cloudy and rains like crazy, I prefer spring 's 110+ degrees, my kinda weather. Quote
Super User CWB Posted February 10, 2011 Super User Posted February 10, 2011 Wuss. 8" of snow won't even raise an eybrow here in Chicago. We just got nailed with 2 feet followed by another 6" and nothing stopped. Slowed down maybe. Somehow I don't feel too sorry for you guys down there when it snows. Quote
tholmes Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 RW, y'all must be experiencing the same storm that rolled through here on Tuesday and Wednesday. We're digging out from under 12+ inches of snow, and temps for the last couple of days haven't made it out of single digits, with wind chills at -25 or so. Today is better though, the sun is out and it's in the upper 20s. Spring can't get here soon enough. Tom Quote
Super User bassfisherjk Posted February 10, 2011 Super User Posted February 10, 2011 Take Care down there R.W. Spring is coming! Quote
scrutch Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 RW, Today it was -17 (yes, that's MINUS 17) at 0700 when I left for work today. School's on a 2 hour delay, NOT canceled. There is about 24 inches of snow on the ground. Can you say ROADTRIP?!!! Quote
fishermantony Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Wow.........I can say I'm grateful to live in Spokane this winter! Different..... Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted February 11, 2011 Super User Posted February 11, 2011 Yesterday I had -24 and 15 minutes north they had -28....I don't know what it was with the wind chill. Sunday is supposed to be a high of +38, talk about a temperature swing 8-) I'm ready for summer Quote
