Fish Chris Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 You guys know I've been working out really hard, right ? Now, for one thing, I knew before I ever started (from working out 30 years ago) that I have crappy genetics. I got pretty strong by the time I was 18 (295 bench, 155 curl) but never got near as buffed as I wanted to be.... or, as some of the other kids in my school. So, 30 years later, I kind of knew what to expect.... But I was not going to let that be an excuse to not get as fit, cut, and buffed as I possibly could. Hey BTW, 15 months ago I weighed 272, with like 45-50% body fat, no muscle to speak of, blood pressure 150/102 7 months ago, 191.8, at 24% body fat. blood pressure 100/60 2 months ago 205 at 20.25% body fat 1 month from now () 195 at 17% body fat 4 months from now 205 at 17% (see the pattern I'm working on ? ) My 3 1/2 year goal is 230 lbs, at 10% body fat. I think that would be pretty darn good for a semi-worn out 50 year old. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So, hey now, this is a photo of my body building idol Zack 'King' Kahn. His stats are, 6ft, 300 lbs during the off season, 270 when totally cut down to 5% body fat. 24" biceps. 36" thighs. Does this guy look absolutely scary, or what ? Like a video game assassin ? LOL But wait.... I'm going to beat you to the punch > Steroids, right ? Well duh. Human beings just don't get this big without them. However, that is only one part of the puzzle. The other parts are vastly superior genetics. Many years of ridiculously hard-core training. An unbelievably large, and calculated diet. And maybe most importantly, the right mind set. In other words, maybe 1 out of 10's of millions of guys could ever get this big, no matter what they did. So, back to the question.... Would you like to look like this ? I would. In fact, I'd love it ! But I'm a realist too. And whatever I can achieve, it's still better than dying from obesity / high blood pressure {where I was headed 15 months ago}. Heck I already look, and feel 10 X's better than I did. I'll post some before and after shots of myself this Spring or Summer, in a tank top, with a good tan.... and on my bald head too LOL Peace, Fish PS, Jay Cutler (3 time Mr Olympia) is rediculously huge, symetrical, and cut up too..... but is kind of a "pretty boy" I think I'd rather be as ugly / scary as Zack Kahn, if I was this big ;D PPS, Zack Kahn actually seems like a really cool, laid back kind of guy. I mean, he really doesn't have to "act tough"... Who's going to mess with him ? Quote
Super User grimlin Posted January 28, 2011 Super User Posted January 28, 2011 Nope...Looks uncomfortable. I wouldn't mind losing weight and gaining a little more muscle.I mean what guy wouldn't.That right there is way over the limit, something i would call a little "too much". Much like a woman who puts on make up...put the right amount on and they look beautiful. Put too much on and they start looking like the chick on the Drew Carey show.Get my drift? Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted January 28, 2011 Super User Posted January 28, 2011 'thats way too big. how the heck do you buy clothes? lol Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 28, 2011 Super User Posted January 28, 2011 Not for me. I like clothes and I don't want to have them custom made. If I were to pick a physique it might be a guy like Greg Norman, clothes just hang perfect on him. At my age all I'm really interested in is keeping fit, vital statistics in accepted normal range, staying agile, limber and maintaining my 130-135#. Most of all my wife likes me this way. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted January 28, 2011 Super User Posted January 28, 2011 LOL. Looks like a cartoon character. Definitely not a human being. I'd rather have the body of a gymnast or a swimmer, plus their flexibility and stamina. Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Bet he cant roll cast past the front of the boat ;D ;D ;D.. I used to work out Constantly...meaning 5-6 days a week 3 hours a day. Although i never got to this guys size (wasn't my goal) i learned what it took. You have to dedicate your life to be that bulky. BTW most of the people i worked out with competed in competitions and usually they would walk around with alot of body fat and looked more like football linemen than body builders. When a competition was coming up they would diet hard to lose fat and expose the muscles like the guy in the picture. So its a no for me , i would rather dedicate my time chasing a lazy, obese, aquatic vertebrae ;D ;D Quote
aceman387 Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Nope....To much dedication, diet, and drugs for me.I'm afraid that all the time ,energy, and money i would have to spend to look that good would leave me with very little time, energy and money to go fishing.I just turned 50 on Sunday and at this stage of my life i would rather look like Glenn Campbell than that. Quote
Fish Chris Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 Geeeez, you guys sound like a bunch of normal people ! I'm sorry. I know you can't help it But like I say, I would absolutely love to be freakishly buffed like Zack Kahn. Peace, Fish Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted January 28, 2011 Super User Posted January 28, 2011 I found out later in life about the meaning of "gravity taking over". Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted January 28, 2011 Super User Posted January 28, 2011 Johnnie Jackson is a rare combination of athletic ability, freakish strength and a bodybuilder physique. I would prefer that combination over just a big X-Frame. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted January 28, 2011 Super User Posted January 28, 2011 The man is a beast, no doubt about it. His appearance like anything, is a matter of taste. Everyone knows this is a more than a life style. It is his life, for now anyway. I can respect anyone that displays the drive, desire, commitment and dedication required to take any of life's adventures to this level. But the REAL challenge is all the FOOD required to build and maintain All That Muscle Mass. To answer your questions Chris, yes. A-Jay Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 28, 2011 Super User Posted January 28, 2011 Not really. I'd rather BE strong, than LOOK strong. And not "gym strong" either. Quote
tyrius. Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 If I could just simply chose to wake up tomorrow and look like that, I wouldn't. Quote
Uncle Leo Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I'll pass, probably would not happen anyway. Did not look like that in the old days playing football, boxing and baseball, would not happen now. He is a bit scary, I would definitely cross the street if he was walking towards me. Quote
Super User Tin Posted January 28, 2011 Super User Posted January 28, 2011 Not at all, zero speed. lol I starting cutting last week. I was on prednisone again and learned to take advantage of it. Last spring it made me pretty chunky but I dropped it all and got down to 210. This time (about 3 months) I would go to the gym and eat until I my stomach hurt. I got up to 236 and 20% bodyfat but really went up in weight. When I started curling I was at about 110lbs., yesterday I did 145lbs. Squating was my biggest gain as I did 315 for reps last week. This will be my last bulk for a while, I don't want to gain much more because I do not want to loose my skating speed. Right now I'm doing about 2200 calories a day, keeping the protein intake over 100g's, and the carbs under 100g's. Living off cottage cheese, chicken, skim milk, whey protein, peanut butter, and about a gallon and a half of h2o a day. I'm praying that the high protein intake will not cause issues with the Crohns. If you want to gain muscle at your age Chris you might want to check out a Zinc, B, and Magnesium supplement to help boost your testosterone levels. What are you eating and what's the routine? Quote
WanderLust Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 He probably a vegetarian and only works out with the shake weight. Getting that big is extremely difficult and can be dangerous though but if that's what you want..... GO FOR IT! Quote
Super User Tin Posted January 28, 2011 Super User Posted January 28, 2011 Getting that big is extremely difficult and can be dangerous though but if that's what you want..... GO FOR IT! Yup, between the juice and diet the mans liver is shot. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of the steroid era baseball players die before age 55. Quote
Fish Chris Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 Oh hey Aceman I just turned 50 on Sunday Since you should mention it, here's a couple photos of my long time buddy Dee. He will be 50 years old this year. (some of you might know of him from a few articles on my old fishing website. He's a stick !) He just got back into weightlifting about 3 1/2 years ago. I think he's doing pretty good for an old guy Definitely inspiring for me, as I've got about 3 1/2 years to go before I'll be 50, and I hope to get maybe 3/4's as buffed / ripped as Dee, by then..... if I'm lucky. BTW, he is really proportioned, and really cut, but actually only has 17 1/2" arms. He is 5' 8", 200 lbs. Cutting the fat is really what makes the muscle you have, show that much more. And fat cutting is all about diet... what you eat, and how much of it. In this shot, my buddy is at about 5%, which is that of a pro body builder, competition level. Peace, Fish PS, My buddy says he also has crappy genetics for body building. Yea' right ! Quote
Fish Chris Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 Tin, my diet is freaking fanatical ! Every meal is calculated, and I put my daily intake all together in the morning, right after breakfast, and it all goes into my lunch box, 7 days a week, whether I'm working or playing. I just got back into a cutting cycle, so I'm back down below 3000... probably closer to 2700 cals a day. Which includes 175 gm's of protein. I was eating 200 gm's, 1/2 natural, 1/2 whey sup.... but I just switched back to all natural. I hear that the body can make better use of natural protein than it does with processed whey. We will see. Also, nearly ALL of my fat intake, is good fat. Avocados, nuts, fish. Olives and olive oil. Very low processed sugar. In fact, almost zero processed foods of any kind. But for anybody reading this, don't get me wrong, I eat a LOT ! For quite a while, I was eating 4000 cals a day, and gaining very slowly. Hopefully, mostly muscle. But like I say, now I'm back to a cutting cycle. Going from 4000 cals to 2700 a day, most of what I cut out was carbs.... fruit, wheat crackers, etc. Oh, and about my T-level, I actually had it tested a while back, and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was pretty good for an old, white guy ....419 ng/dl I do take B complex, zinc, DHEA, and a lot of fish oil. I have not had 1 single bite of cake, pie, candy, ice cream, cheese cake, milkshake, fast food, pizza, nor any other awesome tasting junk food like this, for nearly 15 months. I always here people say, "Well, ya' gotta' treat yourself once in a while........" NOT ! For me that's just flat out the wrong answer. I was a food addict for all of my adult life. Telling me I can have 1 piece of junk food, is like telling an alcoholic, he can have just 1 or 2 drinks... or telling a crack head, he can have just one or two hits.... Obviously, that will never work. I just can't afford to fall off of this wagon. If I ever did, I'm convinced I'd be dead in 5 years. Seriously ! I feel like I caught myself just in time ! I don't think I'd be so lucky the next time. Peace, Fish Quote
Super User Tin Posted January 28, 2011 Super User Posted January 28, 2011 Yea I'm sure the DHEA helps keep your testosterone up (there is a reason why it is banned by just about every spots committee). Hope your taking milk thistle or something for your liver and kidneys if you're taking DHEA and that much protein. Just pay attention to your liver enzymes in your bloodwork. Quote
Fish Chris Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 Funny you can walk into any Wal-Mart, GNC, or most other drugstores and buy DHEA. But yes, I had a complete blood test done a few months ago, and all was good. Liver was fine. In fact, most everything showed improvement, especially my cholesterol. Not really surprised though, after changing my whole life from taking zero care of my body, to being a health and fitness fanatic But that's the story of my life, from one extreme to another.... Peace, Fish Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted January 28, 2011 Super User Posted January 28, 2011 I'm cutting weight right now too. I have to get to the Heavyweight fight limit for my handicap cage match against Glenn and RW in Kentucky.  ;D Quote
FordNFishinLover Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I find it a bit odd and funny you have pictures of your friend in a man thong. But to each their own! But really chris, congrats man. It takes some real dedication to do what you have done. While lookin like the zack guy isnt my kinda thing, i too want to get fit. I've been workin on it lately. Not as hardcore as you, but i've been taking notice of what i eat and i've been lifting 4 days a week. I also play badmittion twice a week and sometimes raquetball or basketball. I've only had my mind set on it for around two weeks now so i've not gotten to much progress, but im def going to keep working on it. I find it hard to figure out what to eat. An beat cravings. But im slowly learning when my body is actually hungry and not just wanting to eat. I almost need a planned thing to tell me what i have to eat for each meal. Im a fairly strong fella, im 19 btw. I dont max anymore but i do reps up to 285 on bench. An squat in the 300's. So i got muscle. But i think i need to do more toning now, and work on losing my fat. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 28, 2011 Super User Posted January 28, 2011 I'm cutting weight right now too. I have to get to the Heavyweight fight limit for my handicap cage match against Glenn and RW in Kentucky. ;D I don't fight anymore...Bring your gun. Â Quote
