Super User fourbizz Posted February 7, 2011 Super User Posted February 7, 2011 Since I have had a dip. It is supposed to be easier after the first few days. It is not. I am about ready to kill someone. Kids, dont start chewing, it sucks to quit. I give myself 50/50 at this point. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted February 7, 2011 Super User Posted February 7, 2011 7 days of pure hell >. Been there and it sucked. I lasted 6 months and stated up again. Good luck and wish you the best. Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted February 7, 2011 Super User Posted February 7, 2011 Go for the gold man! I wish I could give myself that kinda head start with these stupid cigs....good luck 8-) Quote
OHIO Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Good luck man. You're doing better than I am. Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted February 7, 2011 Super User Posted February 7, 2011 Tried quitting, it sucks. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted February 7, 2011 Super User Posted February 7, 2011 I tried for 2 days..... I almost killed my cat for knock stuff over all night . Try the mint snuff(non tobacco) http://www.mintsnuff.com/ Might help..... Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted February 7, 2011 Super User Posted February 7, 2011 It does get better. Withdrawal from nicotine does get easier after about 3-4 weeks but does remain for about 12 months in lesser form. It is mind over matter. Hang in there. Quote
SDoolittle Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Nicotine gum did the trick for me. I smoked and dipped for nearly 20 years, but I've been tobacco free for since March 2009. Quote
Super User bassfisherjk Posted February 7, 2011 Super User Posted February 7, 2011 Hang in there.I quit chewing 2 years ago,and it is very hard. Good Luck. Quote
frogtog Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Hang in there Bizz, it's hard as heck but the rewards are great. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted February 7, 2011 Super User Posted February 7, 2011 If you are serious about quitting , you will , if you're not serious , you won't. Quote
Pitchinkid Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Yeh, i dont think i could ever quit. Tried once or twice, but i wanted to stay married to my wife so i started right back up. Quote

I have a guy at work who did that and ended up getting addicted to the gum and started smoking again. This isn't the first time I've heard this either. Quote
GTrombly Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Just stay with it. It has been 3-4 months for me since I have had one. Just think that you are either going to die from it or have your face mutilated from it and then want to kill yourself. It makes it easier for me. Quote
lynyrdsky1 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Keep it up man, I know it's hard, but it's worth it to stop. Seen my dad lose his lower set of teeth so hope it never turns out that bad. Quote
Branuss04 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Nobody likes quitters..... But in all seriousness, I'm happy for you. No more having to throw away your spit bottles out of my car after a trip! ;D Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 7, 2011 Super User Posted February 7, 2011 I'm a few months with no smokes, and no help either. You can do it. Quote
volfan60 Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 keep it up man im on day 9 myself. its tough but winning is better than losing, thats what i have to tell myself. Quote
Super User fishinfiend Posted February 8, 2011 Super User Posted February 8, 2011 That is AWESOME!!!! You have made a tremendous accomplishment and do not sell your short!! The hard part is over you just have to keep up the good work. I smoked for 11 years and dipped on and off the last 4. Today is day 21. Yes it is miserable. I broke a sink, my toe, and said more profanities in my entire life...combined. I feel a lot better and sure do not miss hacking up crap the first 30 minutes I'm awake. Its all about behavior modification. I can tell by your posts you are of some intelligence. I really had to psychoanalyze my behavior and confront my addiction to remain successful. Congratulations, sir! Something that has been very helpful for me is to track my days on a whiteboard. Everyday I write in big numbers how many days it has been and I see it everytime I enter my bedroom. I made it this far, the last thing I want to do is start that count over. There is no such thing as just one dip or just one smoke. Trust me, I tried quiting dozens of times. Quote
Super User Tin Posted February 8, 2011 Super User Posted February 8, 2011 Exactly, behavior...I know how you operate and I know you love to prove people wrong and tell them they are stupid. So... I bet you won't do it. You suck at life and will give up and go back to dip in no time. You're just wasting your time trying to quit. ;D Hopefully you can call me stupid in a few months and tell me I was wrong. Quote
Branuss04 Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 HAHAHA.. Nice! I don't think i'm going to enjoy fishing with him anymore for awhile. It's like taking a binky away from a little kid. bigfruits Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 get the nicotine patch. just buy the first box if youre not sure if you will keep up with it. that patch is a miracle. Quote
key chain bass guy Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 There is no such thing as just one dip or just one smoke.. Agreed. Started dipping at 17, quit at 31, and then started again at 35 after just one dip. I thought I was far enough along to control myself. It's been three years of one more dip. Quote
