BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted January 26, 2011 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted January 26, 2011 The wife just got a Ipod Touch. Now, we have been using napster with our Sansa MP3 players and a Napster 2Go subscription which cost $14 per month to download as many songs as you want on up to 3 mp3 players. Where can you get I tune compatible downloads without having to pay a dollar a piece? I tried BearShare, but most of the songs will not convert to the Ipod format. Any ideas for the technologically challenged? Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted January 26, 2011 Super User Posted January 26, 2011 what is the reason Napster won't work with her iPod? i don't know if itunes has this featuers but zune marketplace has a subscription option that allows you to download as many songs as you want, like your napster subscriptions. you could also get a youtube to mp3 converter and get songs off youtube (dvd videosoft has a good one) Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted January 26, 2011 Author BassResource.com Advertiser Posted January 26, 2011 The ipods have software in them that prevents you from using Napster 2 Go. You can buy individual tracks from Napster but that is no different than buying them from itunes. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted January 26, 2011 Super User Posted January 26, 2011 oh wow that's bogus. i wonder why on earth napster would do that... anyway, i don't know of any legal means of getting songs without having to pay around a dollar per song. the youtube to mp3 converter is very handy though Quote
Pierre Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I use this website to download all of my music... http://www.youtube-mp3.org/ All you do is go to youtube and find the song you want, copy the URL, paste it into the website and press convert, then download. Once you do that you can open it into your iTunes and put it on the iPod. Best of all, its free!! good luck, if you cant figure that out, I can help you with any other questions. Quote

Everything basically has to pass through iTunes to go onto the iPods or iTouch. Quote

nick76 Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 So you have downloaded the files from Napster and placed on another MP3 player that is not an Ipod? Do you know what format the files are being saved as? There are multiple ways around the security crap that Apple is giving you and you can transfer all those files as you would like. Let me know if you can find out what type of file they are saving as and I can be of more assistance. Apple seems like a bad company to everyone, but in the end they are no different than you or I am by protecting what is legally theirs. Quote
GTrombly Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Napster is compatible with ipods, napster to go is not. Apple is just making it harder for people to steal music and put it on their products. There are ways to convert the music so it will work on ipods. If you plan on using a music program other than itunes you should do your homework to see if it is compatible with apple products. Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted January 27, 2011 Author BassResource.com Advertiser Posted January 27, 2011 Thanks guys. I am going with Pierre's idea. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted January 27, 2011 Super User Posted January 27, 2011 that site is good but it only allows you to download one song at a time. with this program: http://dvdvideosoft.com/products/dvd/Free-YouTube-to-MP3-Converter.htm you can load the queue with URLs and then click download and just leave the program running to convert as many songs as you like. BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted January 29, 2011 Author BassResource.com Advertiser Posted January 29, 2011 Thanks Dave. The videosoft program seems to be doing exactly what I want it to. In fact I'm going to ditch napster and also get the music for my sansa using it. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted January 29, 2011 Super User Posted January 29, 2011 glad you like it i just linked you to the youtube-mp3 converter, on their website they have many more programs available, and one download that includes all the programs. Quote
