I found it when I was walking in the woods behind my house today.

It was about three feet in length and it looked like it had a hitch on it so it could be pulled by something.

Anyone know?

It looks to be a Knudson Hadderly model 145 Multi Purpose Farm Implement from the late 30's. I just saw one appraised on Antiques Roadshow for $25,000.

;D It's scrap metal...

I went back out to look at it and noticed that the four rods on each side are 4-5 inches in the ground.

I would be able to lift it up, but the ground is frozen and it won't move.

I don't think it's used to aerate the ground because nothing on this thing moves. It's one solid piece except for the hitch part.

If it is something like that I would think that it's missing some parts.

This is really buggin me.

It probably is scrap metal, but I would still like to know what it is.

Looks like some kinda grading sector...maybe from something belly mounted, like an old Allis grader or a pony grader.  Not sure about the pieces of round stock sticking up though.

Booby trap. Do you live in Vietnam or Korea?

;D

I had that in the back of my head the whole time I was getting snow off this thing.

It looks like something cutler could rehab his knee on.

It does look like some type of farm implement.  I'd guess the tines stick out both sides so when one side got bent up or worn out, it could easily be turned over.

It's possible that several of these could be attached to a bar of some type to cover a wide swath.  If I had to hazard a guess, it would be some type of thatcher to rake matted grass, or possibly dragged behind a harrow, much like a section of chain link fence.

It probably is some type of farm equipment, but now I'm wondering how it ended up in the middle of the woods. :-?

Have you seen that Bud Light commercial with the female aliens? If those were Sarah Palin's, I would also yell "Here we go!" and hop in the ship  :D Terminators or not 8-)

It's an A-drag used for working up loose ground.  It was probably left lay where somebody quit using it and the woods grew up around it.

Back in the day, most things were "home made". If you were lucky you had a friend with a stick welder. A visit to the junkyard got you some materials to make most anything. Nobody ever heard of Home Depot.  ;)
