Super User senile1 Posted January 22, 2011 Super User Posted January 22, 2011 Congratulations! I suspect this is just about every bass fisherman's dream who hasn't retired yet. I still have a few years to go but time passes quickly. Plans are in place and I'm working toward doing the same thing. Quote
Nick Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Good for you.I retired 7 years ago just to fish and I really like it! Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted January 22, 2011 Super User Posted January 22, 2011 Did it 3 years ago. Best decision I ever made. I am having the time of my life. Even got a part time job at our local Bass Pro Shop to supplement my ever growing addiction. Enjoy the rest of your life. LIVE LONG AND FISH!! Quote
fishermantony Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Congratulations! My goal is definitely the same! Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted January 22, 2011 Super User Posted January 22, 2011 I walked away from a good job and took early retirement with a reduced pension at age 56 - I don't regret it a bit! I didn't end up on or next to big water, but I do have 11 lakes (4 acres to 201 acres) all within a 5-10 minute drive of my front door. It's great You'll have a ball................... Quote
Super User bassfisherjk Posted January 22, 2011 Super User Posted January 22, 2011 Congrat's,and Good Luck. That's a dream of mine also. Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 22, 2011 Super User Posted January 22, 2011 Wonderful news! As Paul Harvey said, make your retirement whatever your avocation is and for you it is bass fishing. You need something to keep going. Bear Bryant and others have passed away after retiring when they have nothing to do. Good luck and keep us posted on your retirement fun. Quote
CSimon2 Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Congratulations! I plan on doing the same thing, but have 30 years to go. Quote
Super User Lund Explorer Posted January 22, 2011 Super User Posted January 22, 2011 Congrats! I'm trying as hard as I can to finally slam the doors shut around here too. I'm down to a half dozen consulting only clients now, and the first advice I gave all of them was to start looking for somebody else in another two years! Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted January 22, 2011 Super User Posted January 22, 2011 Welcome to the retirement club. I've caught a lot of bass the last eleven years. Quote

Super User Wayne P. Posted January 22, 2011 Super User Posted January 22, 2011 ahhhh, retirement and bass fishing. No more crowded lake weekends to put up with. The best days are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Quote

CJ Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Congratulations! To me that's the biggest achievement in life. I wish I could start a career in bass fishing but the pension isn't great. LOL Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted January 23, 2011 Super User Posted January 23, 2011 Dwight, I give the bass that day off to recover from the thrashing from the weekend crowds. Hopefully they have settled down and forgot about it so I can sneak up on them. The weedend onslaught usually starts on Friday. Quote
JigMe Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Awesome deal. I can't wait until my retirement, Ill either move to CA or FL so I can fish everyday. Quote
rboat Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Congrats! I think all of us have that dream. With the economy and prices rising each day, I am afraid I will have to work right up to my last breath. Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted January 23, 2011 Super User Posted January 23, 2011 Congrats. You're living my dream. Hopefully I'll be able to retire early and do the exact same thing. I only want to make enough money guiding to pay for my fishing hobby. If I can do that, I'll consider myself successful. Hope you enjoy it! Quote
