Anybody know what time Dick's opens on sundays? Couldnt find anything on there site. Might have overlooked it.

You might need to pitch a tent on Dick's sidewalk tonight just to be sure you beat Blaine in the door tomorrow morning.

I dont know what time the one here opens up. I bet if you called the store it would have a recorded message with the hours.

Nah, im going to the one in Morgantown. He stays in his territory and ill stay in mine.

I hit the Morgantown Dick's up yesterday, they had a better selection than the Clarksburg Dick's.

However....are you ready for this?

I cleared the rack on Lucky Craft Pointers @ $5.48 a pop.  Also cleared the rack on all their LC cranks @ $4.50 a pop.

Scored a few Sebile Magic Swimmers for $4.50 as well as Terminater T-1 spinnerbaits for $.98

BTW, I'll not have to buy replacement trebles for my cranks again for about ten years, probably bought 50 packs all together.  ;D

Clearance items should be separated from the normal stock and labeled through the next month or so until it's all sold.

Dan, tell that to the Roanoke store if you dont mind. Nothing seperated and only a few things actually marked (red sticker) as clearance items.

Luckily, I took what I wanted (that was not red tagged) and got the guy to scan the stuff and it came up on clearance, plus the extra 50% off.

I'm sure there's tons of other stuff thats supposed to be marked that isn't.

Yes, most of the old stock is even 50% off the sticker price.  I asked about the Rapala DT Flats yesterday, they were on sale but the price didn't end with a .93 or .97, they still ended up being $3.00 a piece though.

I meant it is a task that should be getting done through the next month, depending on the region. Keep checking the Roanoke store, if their managers are keeping up with their assignments the clearance items should be separated from normal stock in each aisle in the coming month or so. Be patient, it's a particularly lengthy process at a time when man hours are not abundant.

If that does happen it will be the first time ever happening like that at that particular store.

For those of you that have good Dick's (?? ;D ;D??) in your area ....

Do you also a BPS or Cabelas? The ones around KC suck and I rarely venture there. I would say they are just a notch above wally world, but not much. We also have both a BPS (actually 2 now) and a Cabelas. I wonder if that has something to do with it???

Are Rage baits on sale?????????

Yes, quite a few on sale for $2.00 a pack.  That would be $1.06 after the 50% sale and sales tax for me.  The Rage Shads and Rage Craws are the ones I noticed marked down.

Nearest Cabela's to me is 125 miles, nearest BPS would be 265 miles away.  I've noticed the two Dick's locations closest to me, (one is 15 minutes away, the other is 35 minutes away) have different items on sale.

Lucky Crafts were not on sale for the most part at one store but the other had all LC's marked way down.  The Rapalas were being restocked this very evening at the closest store to me, what a d**n mess that was.

I also got some great deals on One Knockers for $2.00 a piece.  Not all of them were on sale, just some select colors.  Probably the best deal I noticed was the Invis-X marked down to $6.00 a spool.  I would have cleaned the whole rack out of that but someone else beat me to it. :(

They must be different in different areas.  I went to two today.  For instance one of them has about 4 different kind of lines to chose from and no LC's.  The other one, while still pathetic, carries LC pointers in about 3 colors and that's it for LCs.

This must be true. The one closest to me has only a few LC's (Pointers and Sammy's in sucky colors) but the rest of the selection of other brands is pretty decent overall. The Rage Baits on sale here were the Shads and Toads and that was it. All other RT baits were regular price.

The Yamamoto rack was totally stocked to the max so I knew none of that was marked down.  ;) I remember last year I got 30+ bags of GYCB baits for like $2.49 a bag. Senko's, Flappin' Hawgs, DT Grubs....that was a major score right there. No such luck this time.

Dick's may not have the best of everything like a BPS or Cabela's but it sure beats the heck out of Wal Mart and the Gander Mtn here is so expensive I have decided to just boycott that store unless it's just a flat out emergency.

At our store only the Anacondas and Space Monkeys seem to be on sale. My guess is that the sales will vary at least by district. I wouldn't have guessed that stores within the same district would have different sales but Jimzee's experience suggests that it is entirely possible unless for some reason his stores are in different districts.

It's entirely possible that it won't happen, depending on the store and district managers. I don't know if this is a new process either. All I know is that was the direction we received from corporate as we prepare for spring.

I would think that mine and your district manager would be the same dude. I'll probably go by again in a few days to check for any new developments.

For Dan

How come inventory and selection vary so much from store to store ? Of the 4 within roughly a 40 mile radius of my house, some are one notch above wally world and some are decent. What gives ?

I know 100% that we are in different districts. We are most likely in the same region but I'd have to check to make sure. The westernmost store in our district is near Dulles Airport and our southernmost store is in Fredericksburg. The district managers make routine trips to check on their stores but regional managers do not.

Obviously different regions have different inventory to appeal to different types of fishing and popular game fish unique to a given region (ie: we recently had a bunch of stuff that would be considered steelhead stuff that we transferred to a store in New York because we couldn't move it here).

As far as differing inventories within a given region and district, it's going to depend on store size (my store is a single story and we have a limited tackle selection whereas a store about 20 minutes from here is a two story store that has a much better selection because they have much more room).  Also, some stores are going to be classified as "low-volume tackle stores" based on their sales. That can be influenced by how busy the store is and how well the lodge team maintains the merchandise.

Beyond that I couldn't tell you.

I was the backwall manager (fishing, watersports, camping) at the first Dick's built outside of NY state(it was the 13th in the chain).  I have to say it was a job that I really enjoyed...to a point.  While in training at their Buffalo, NY store, I got to make a trip to corporate HQ and meet with the buyers.  I was told that I "would be listened to" when it came to ordering merchandise and that my "input was valued".  (Yeah, right ::) )  What happened was that they would put sales flyers out for every weekend, showing items on sale that would never show up, resulting in irate customers and issuing rain checks, knowing that we'd be lucky if we EVER saw the item in question.  We were constantly sent fishing equipment that wouldn't sell in that area if we GAVE it away, and calls from me were for the most part ignored.

Dan, I don't know what they're like to work for now, but I could tell you horror stories about the store manager I had to work with.  He was the reason for quitting my job there.  The district manager loved my work....the store manager didn't and made things really miserable.

You @*$%. The only thing i went after and you got them. Had to go to Woodland World in Uniontown to spend money. Got some LC Pointers and Cranks but not for 5.48 though they were on sale. Did pick up a bunch of Sammys at Dicks for 5.48. Didnt have any Dt Flats either.

I stopped in the one in Clarksville, TN this morning. It looked like a plague of locusts went thru the place. Still, I managed to grab several bags of YUM plastics for $1.48 ea. They had some Rapalas left....couple other things, but nothing interested me that much.

I went into the same one.  However, most of the stuff everyone is saying that is on sale isn't at the Clarksville store.  I'll go back and look today and see if they added anything, but my guess will be nothing has changed.

There was only a limited amount of items that were actually on sale in the fishing section.  Nothing like what everyone is mentioning.

I didn't find anything like what others are mentioning, either.  Considering the area and the popularity of fishing, their tackle department was, IMO, woefully small.  Of course, I saw lots of empty pegs in the markdown section so I'm sure that there were at least several others there before me ;D
