Stringjam Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I just downloaded one of the custom user-made levels (i.e. Sandbox Editor 2) called "The Resort." It's some great stuff......almost too gorgeous to go around shooting people in. The YouTube video doesn't do it any justice (even on 720p it's still compressing the snot out of it). The gameplay is alright.....I could do without the adolescent storyline/dialog....but hey - I'm pretty darn impressed at what ordinary folks can come up with using the editor. I think some of the views generated in this map are some of the best I've ever seen in ANY game. It's worth downloading just to walk (and swim/dive) around in. Quote
NateFollmer Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I used that editor before, even messed around with the game engine (Crytek) before we decided on the Unreal Engine. That editor is awesome, especially if you have 0 technical knowledge. You pretty much can drag and drop things and make a level. This was obviously done by someone with skill because it didn't look like the thousands of other levels ha ha I actually never played Crysis though... Quote

I've just started messing around with the editor. I can see how this could become addictive. I wish I had more time to mess with this stuff because I could REALLY get into it. Unreal Engine looks really cool....no doubt a pretty steep learning curve (like any capable software). Quote
NateFollmer Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Yeah both have their pros and cons. Crytek was still very new when we were shopping haha. If I had to do it all again (and actually finish the game ) it would be all Crytek. Quote

NateFollmer Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Yeah, we created a game called CellZenith, completely from scratch with Directx, to fund our FPS... Yeah, that didn't work out so well. The guy who 'owned' the company rushed us, even though we didn't have any time constraints or publishers to tell us when they wanted it. The game sucked and crap went downhill from there... I bailed because he owed a lot of money to people for advertising The last game I worked on was this: http://www.moddb.com/games/warm-gun I may try and make a fishing game with the UDK... but I have no time to even think about that right now LOL Quote
llPa1nll Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Love me some Crysis. I mean what other game can you pull out a sniper rifle and shot some frogs, chickens, turtles, and virtual North Koreans. Quote
