Shadrac Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 When I was growing up, the father of a friend of mine used to always say the goal of any fishing lure is to catch the fisherman first. And of course he was right but we still collected lures to add to the box. The latest trend in that strategy is Sexy Shad color- which sort of surprises me because the pattern has been around for years. Heddon had it on their early Pumpkin Seed pattern of Bluegill. So if you want to see the sexiest shad - go this link http://www.tacklecollecting.com/heddontinypunkinseedcolors.htm scroll down a little and you will see classic 1955 sexier than shad Bluegill. Super User Wayne P. Posted July 23, 2008 Super User Posted July 23, 2008 All of the fad baits/colors are just playing on the gullibility of fisherpersons that think there is some magic lure that will overcome their lack of fishing ability. Quote
Pitchinkid Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 yeh i agree, but if a fisherman has confidence in that bait or color then that makes the lure/bait worth it. Confidence will get you bit. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted July 23, 2008 Super User Posted July 23, 2008 Colors are definately a big hype to catch fishermen/women!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote

Pitchinkid Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 yeh and knowing how to fish is having confidence ;D Quote
Pitchinkid Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 im not saying that confidence is all you have to have to catch fish, im just saying that is the most important thing to have. IMO Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted July 23, 2008 Super User Posted July 23, 2008 First day I fished it was last Septemper on lake Falcon practicing for the TABC state championship. Four over six pounds that day made a believer in me. It was the Series 6 crankbait in Sexy Shad. I painted a swimbait the same color that night and caught a 10.4 on the third cast the next morning. Another color may have worked as well, but I'm not one to argue with success. Quote
Big Tom Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 I like the color a lot but it really has been around a while. Its pretty entertaining to see all the other companies names for Sexy Shad. Quote
bass wrangler569 Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 This is America...... Sex sells....... X2 Quote
SuthernProg Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 I've always been a Bandit crankbait guy, but finally used the Bomber Fat Free shad in Citrus shad color cuz of all the hype about it. On the third cast I hooked probably a 6 pounder with it and all was well until the bait broke in half. No kidding. Bottom with hooks took off with the fish, part with the line tie bounced off my forehead causing me untold aggravation. I'm still a Bandit guy. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 I bought some of the sexy shad baits - Strike King Crank 5, Mann's Elite 4-, Strike King hollow body swim bait, and the SK Red Eye shad. So far, none of them have produced a fish. At first I though that I just needed to throw them where there are some shad, since I fish mostly ponds and small lakes without shad... But then why do all of my Tennessee Shad colored lures work? I'm thinking the Sexy Shad pattern might be a regional thing... Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted July 23, 2008 Super User Posted July 23, 2008 Sexy Shad has been working for me, in a big way this season. Falcon Quote

X2 like the guys who CAN afford to buy hundreds of dollars worth of stuff and not even take 2 seconds to actually learn how to use it.Like they are expecting to throw it in the water and the bass will find it sooo irresistable they just cant help but swarm alll over it : : It has nothing to do at all with how or where you are trying to present it. : Quote
