lynyrdsky1 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Side note: best youth angler on here has to be BASSClary. This guy knows his stuff. You do know how to read, right? ;D Haha yea, his reviews are pretty good and based upon other people my age he knows verbally more things about fishing. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 7, 2011 Super User Posted January 7, 2011 Not sure where I get all props here. Dwight pretty much out fishes me on EVERY species, by about 50%, LOL. I post a 13 lb. pike, he's got a 20. I post a 5 lb. smallie, he's got a 7. I post a 10 lb. steelhead, he's got a 15. And on and on....... We basically fish the same water, so if your looking at trophy guys by geographic location, he's your man. Quote

intheweeds Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 My thought the of what makes the best fisherman is not the amount or size of fish they catch, but how they are as a person. There are a lot of great fishermen on this site for sure. I am going to base my picks on guys who I have personal experience with. They are guys who don't make you feel foolish for being a newbie, who are passionate about the sport, who take the time to answer all the questions (no matter how dumb). Some of these guys took me under their wing when I was new to the area where I live and showed me the local waters and some awesome techniques. These are all around good guys and the best fishermen, IMO. rondef Big O JCrazy4bass Road Warrior Cadman Shane J Quote

Tokyo Tony Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I haven't posted in a while here guys, but I now realize why I chose to log on today. I think it goes without saying that I'm the best not only on this site, but in the world. Come at me. 8-) When I read the thread title, the name that came to mind was Fish Chris. The guy catches monsters in many species, including panfish, and posts amazing pics to prove it, along with detailed explanations of what he did to get them. Obviously he's a trophy hunter, not a tournament fisherman, but no one else has impressed me as much as he has on this site. He gets my vote. Quote
Texasfishingtips Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Well if your going by size of fish then its not really fair because some people live in areas where the growiing season isint very long. And others live in places whern bass can sometimes grow all 12 months. Btw, record fish on Falcon was cought recently.....15.63 I think. Clancy W Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I would have to say Dwight. I fish the exact same lake as he does (Lake Erie) and I cannot produce near the size of fish he does. I still can't break that 7 lb. mark for a Smallmouth and he seems to catch one every outing. Therefore, his ability is something I can greatly appreciate. Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted January 7, 2011 Super User Posted January 7, 2011 It's very hard to say who here is the best angler. There are so many people on the forum that fish so many different ways. There are some people on the forum that I've fished with, and others that I certainly would like to. To me, it's not just about your prowess as an angler, but the type of person you are. I've thoroughly enjoyed each and every trip that I've gone on with people from BR. Heres to hoping that will keep happening the next time I go out with somebody from the forums. We may be different people and do different thing. The one thing we all get off on is catching fish. When I was younger, frequently we would make the trip on the boat over to the Bahamas. We would go with another family. The mother and daughter were really nice people. The husband on the other hand was a serious jackass. The dude could really catch fish. He knew what he was doing. I'd never want to spend a day on the water with him though. Having a good time was out of the equation. It was all about catching the most and the biggest fish on the island. After a while, that kind of thing tends to get old. One thing I would love to do is to take out one of you guys that has only fished for bass. Head out offshore, find a good weedline, and get onto a big school of Dolphin. Such ridiculously awesome fun. I'd love to see the look on somebodies face thats new to that kind of fishing. Quote

Fish Chris Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Their are just so many great fishermen on this site, with so many different skill sets, it's pretty much impossible to say. But for anybody who mentioned yours truly.... Come on ! Are you kidding me ?!?! Haven't you guys heard me say, I can't even cast with a darn bait caster ! I'm flattered though. Hey edbassmaster, you mentioned one of my all time fishing idols (although I don't think he posts here) yes, Al Lindner is the man ! I remember somebody asked him once if he considered himself a great fishermen to which he laughed, and replied, "Well, I don't think that would really be a question for me to answer. If somebody thinks I'm great, well I thank them. If not, that's fine too. All I know is that I truly love to fish, and I've been very blessed to have done it as much as I have". I think that is such a great answer. Peace, Fish Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted January 8, 2011 Super User Posted January 8, 2011 Fish... I dont know about these other guys, but the reason you and Paul get my respect is not only are you great sticks, but you are both humble beyond belief. BASSclary nominates himself, and you try to tell us that you are just another guy. LMAO! Youve got 2 largemouth over 17lbs, and smallies over 8lbs. What are you up to now? 75 fish over 10lbs? More? You the man Fish! Quote
Fish Chris Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Well Biz, 89, but who's counting LOL Numbers are just that though..... So much of fishing just boils down to odds. I've always felt like anybody who had spent as much time as I have, in the places I have, using the methods I have, would almost certainly have caught as many big bass as I have.... if not more. Where I have been really lucky, is in getting to fish as much time as I have, in the places I have. And BTW, my closest inside circle never tells me, "Dude, your a stick"..... But rather, "Dude, your the luckiest freaking guy I've ever known" ! LOL ......and that, could very well be true But then again, like I always say, "I'd waaay rather be the luckiest angler on the lake, holding the new lake record, than the best angler, who got skunked" LOL Peace, Fish Quote

paul. I really appreciate everyone's contributions, but especially the insight from those "gettin' it done!" 8-) Quote
