i have now perfected my ability to lose lures by not checking the knot and launching them into orbit, never to be seen again....

dont feel too bad - ive held a jig in my hand, attached a trailer and dropped it into the water without tieing it. apparently the look on my face was priceless.

ah it happens.  i've went as far as cutting the line instead of the tag end of the line and watching my lure plop into the water.

Years ago I was fishing in a night tournament.  I practically made a spinner bait in the boat.....changed blades and skirt and added a trailer.  Held it up and bragged about to the guy I was fishing with and told him I was about to show him how it was done.................and pitched it right over the side of the boat without tying it on.  I just know an eight pounder hammered it on the way to the bottom.

I've snapped off many spooks on a hard cast.  I was fishing a matts soft baby bass this year on 12lb FC and forgot to press the thumb bar on the cast...I gave it a good hefty cast and it went sailing across the the lake...it was my second cast with the bait.

I did that a couple of times this year alone.  ;D

When I was much younger (very early teens), my uncle took me and my brother to Canada. After the first couple of days, I was following my uncle into "town" to renew some tackle supplies and I asked my brother if he wanted anything. He said he wanted a new red/white daredevil spoon to replace the spoon he'd lost. Keeping in mind that this was Canada where everything is overpriced, it was probably 3 dollars (and that was in 1970's dollars!) Back then, for two farm boys without an allowance, 3 dollars was a king's ransom. When I returned, my brother just about had a cow when I asked him to cough up the money for his purchase. But a daredevil spoon was what he asked for and that's what I bought him. Anyway, shortly after we got back out on the lake, the spool of line on his cheapy zebco reel fouled (as they are so want to do). My brother made a mighty cast and I heard this loud "pop." His expensive new lure must've flown all the way to the next province. The look on his face and the stream of expletives that exited his mouth would've made a sailor blush.

lure was maybe 2 casts old and it came off his norman clip

Ya'll got off light. Broke down and had the carpul tunnell fixed in both hands after...

I had launched a Gloomis/Curado combo over the side and then had another fly out of my hand during a hookset. Lost them both.

I've got a buddy that no matter how many times I drill into his head to check his knot or if he see's his line is nicked up to retie he doesn't listen.  Every trip he either snaps his line and sends a lure into the trees or breaks off on a fish.  It drives me nuts!  I actually get sorta mad and it's not my fish or money spent on lures.  I know these things happen from time to time but with him its just ignorance  ;D!  Oh well

We need to start a club ;D

I could fill a tackle box with the lures I've inadvertently thrown away. :-[
