JigMe Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I have a karbar that's made from 1095 carbon steel, I don't know much about knives. Would I need to oil the blade to keep it rust free? I usually sharp the blade once every other month, but never wiped with oil. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted January 2, 2011 Super User Posted January 2, 2011 it never hurts to keep any blade lightly oiled. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted January 3, 2011 Super User Posted January 3, 2011 I Googled 1095 steel for grins. It is a high carbon steel commonly used for higher end knives. It is not a stainless alloy. I would think WD or Remington gun oil would work fine. Quote
