Shad_Master Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 I was looking at the reports from ICAST this week end and found this: http://www.pallatrax.co.uk/ My God, they've invented the rock Quote
FR0G Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 All I can say is wow. Haha. I'll stick with Tungsten. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted July 21, 2008 Super User Posted July 21, 2008 I think I'll hold off on buying any until they come out wqith the PEBBLZ series for finesse applications. Quote
Super User Sam Posted July 21, 2008 Super User Posted July 21, 2008 Now I think I have seen it all. Good invention. Guess it will work. Give it a try and let us know if you do better with the rock or a regular weight system. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 21, 2008 Super User Posted July 21, 2008 LOL, for some reason I find that idea rather intriguing.... Not necessarily something I would employ for bass fishing, but for carp and catfish it might just work.... Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted July 21, 2008 Super User Posted July 21, 2008 Quote:"Stonze can be left in the water to encourage algae growth resulting in further natural camouflage" I got a kick out of that one. : Quote
slomoe Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Soon you'll be seeing Gloomis carrying the "Stonze" rod. ;D Quote
Shad_Master Posted July 21, 2008 Author Posted July 21, 2008 Actually one of the guys in my local club suggested that G-Loomis needs to design a rod that looks like a tree branch and Ranger needs to desing a 22' boat that looks like a hollowed out tree trunk. Then we might be on to something. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted July 21, 2008 BassResource.com Administrator Posted July 21, 2008 They have an office in Battleground, WA. I have a handful of them and will try them out soon. Will let you know how well they work. Quote
Super User Micro Posted July 21, 2008 Super User Posted July 21, 2008 If they are made in the US, most people will assume they're junk (and a joke). But if they say "Made in Japan" they will get a cult following. Quote
D.Cox Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 ICAST showcases fishing products from all over the world. Also, all products in certain categories, such as terminal tackle and hard lures compete against each other, regardless of whether they were designed for different types of fishing, i.e carp, musky, striper, or bass, etc. If you look at their website, they don't bass fish. Their main fishing if for carp or whatever they call them over there. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Personally, I think it is brilliant. Ecologically,....environmentally,.....angling wise,....stealth presentation wise (plus they will "click" like a cray is moving rocks,...because it IS a rock! lol) I think the downfall will be the price. Suprised,...coming from me,..I know, lol It's a polished, drilled, weighed ROCK,...a buck a piece? That's enough to make me specifically boycott them. The greed, the greed, the greed Kudos for the innovation and thinking INSIDE the box though Quote
HopelesslyAddicted Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 What's next guys fishing linez made of vinez? ;D Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted July 22, 2008 Super User Posted July 22, 2008 I'm going to invent something to make my doo doo more environmentally safe. Then I can mold into a big wake bait. Do you think it will sell? Quote
Brian_Reeves Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 There will be durability issues, so you will have to eat rubber. Hook inserts will be a problem as well. Oh yeah...and no one would buy it, so it might not be worth it Bassn. The rock idea is funny to me. It's like a pet rock for fishermen. Now if they design a bobber out of rock, I'm sold. That would be COOL! Quote
Big-O Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Hey Brian, how about a bobber that looks like a baby duck. Better put a hook in it cause it might get as many hits as the bait.... hmmm... not a bad idea, huh! Any takers? Big O Quote
senko_77 Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Wow. I wasn't expecting that, but thats a really cool concept. I won't be buying any, but I hope the company does well. Quote
Mattlures Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 They won the award for best terminal tackle. A rocket launching fishing rod thing also won an award at Icast. If anybody was that interested in trying a rock weight it would be to easy to just go make your own. I could see them working for catfish or carp but with their large size I see no advantage. The only upside I can see is that they "clean" I dont think its a bad idea but I dont see it being succesful. Way to easy to make your own. Quote
JShrock07 Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 I think I would rather make my own then pay a buck a peice. This is crazy but very genuis!!!! I wish I would have thought of it!!!! Quote
Brian_Reeves Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Might knock the catfish out on the retrieve too. That would be beneficial. I guess for tight lining, I might actually consider trying it. Quote
Super User flechero Posted July 22, 2008 Super User Posted July 22, 2008 What you guys are missing is that carping in the UK is way more serious than bass fishing over here. ....I'm just saying Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 22, 2008 Super User Posted July 22, 2008 What you guys are missing is that carping in the UK is way more serious than bass fishing over here. ....I'm just saying Definitely. Probably on par with Musky fishing in Wisconsin and Canada... Carp are a very highly regarded fish in other countries. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted July 22, 2008 Super User Posted July 22, 2008 I think they are giving way to much credit to the fish for being smart. Quote
