Super User Fishing Rhino Posted December 23, 2010 Super User Posted December 23, 2010 Why would anyone trust Assange? Who knows what he really is, or what he really wants? It's the fact that he has exposed what most of us already knew, that what the pols put out for public consumption is a facade. Anyone with a lick of common sense and a modicum of life experience already knew that. Personally, I think he's a slimeball. Here's why. When there was initially talk about the gendarmes arresting him he threatened to release a vertitable flood of documents. Now wait a minute. This smacks of blackmail or the use of hostages as a bargaining chip. If as he claimed earlier the threat to release them would have only been a matter of timing. Or was he not going to release them. We don't know enough about the man and his motives to proclaim him a hero. But what I've seen of him in this arrest deal causes me to distrust him.
Super User deaknh03 Posted December 23, 2010 Super User Posted December 23, 2010 my first instinct is to think he's a slimeball also, but the info we get to make that assumption comes from the same media that is owned by big business and that controls our govt. So i believe they laid it on thick to make him look bad, maybe he is, maybe he isn't, but I can't go by what the media reports about him.
Super User K_Mac Posted December 23, 2010 Super User Posted December 23, 2010 two sides to every story...and media rarely reports either of them. have a media background, as well, and it ain't just fox, folks...it's cnn, msnbc, the abnbcbs complex, even down to the weather channel...they all follow the same parse-the-words, out-of context template designed more for their masters to gain hearts and minds over issues, rather than simple truths to be told. calling one side worse than any other side here is a bit...facetious. Very well said. While I think Fox News is more bad entertainment than news, to single it out is facetious at best; disingenuous would more closely describe my opinion. To compare the voluntary saying of the pledge of allegiance in school to the patriotic hysteria of Nazi Germany shows a lack of understanding of history and is offensive in my less than humble opinion.
Super User deaknh03 Posted December 23, 2010 Super User Posted December 23, 2010 when the people you have "outed" make you look like a slimeball, is that believable, and they are more wealthy and powerful than you.
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted December 23, 2010 Super User Posted December 23, 2010 when the people you have "outed" make you look like a slimeball, is that believable, and they are more wealthy and powerful than you. I'm not going by what they said about him. I'm going by his own words and actions. He's had ample opportunity to refute those things attributed to him in the media. I haven't seen where he has gone after the media. His main statement concerning the media is that they better watch out, they might be the next to feel the wrath of exposed governments. That the major media might be suppressed. To repeat, he exposed nothing. The stuff he released only confirmed what most of us believed or suspected, that politicians and government officials are two faced.
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted December 23, 2010 BassResource.com Administrator Posted December 23, 2010 Tangent airlines now departing.... : Let's keep it on topic boys.
Super User Hookemdown. Posted December 23, 2010 Super User Posted December 23, 2010 I'm not trying to call you out or anything, but I love how you are subtly demeaning conservative media by calling Fox "faux." I doubt I could get away with belittling liberal media like that. But, I guess it's your forum, your rules. Le sigh.
Super User Dan: Posted December 23, 2010 Super User Posted December 23, 2010 You all have seen Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow, right?
Super User bilgerat Posted December 23, 2010 Super User Posted December 23, 2010 Good luck finding down- the- middle- just-give- me - the -facts - and- I'll - make - up - my - own - mind news anywhere. As fewer and fewer people own more and more of everything, it's only going to get worse. Turn off the TV and get on with your life. Most of it, news included, is watered down crap geared for the lowest common denominator. It's all agenda driven regardless of which side of the fence it's coming from.
Super User Grey Wolf Posted December 23, 2010 Super User Posted December 23, 2010 WOW this crap is getting deep for a fishing site !!!!!!!!!!!!
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted December 24, 2010 BassResource.com Administrator Posted December 24, 2010 Wow is right. Hookemdown - I have no clue where you come with that nonsense, but I assure you my viewpoint about that network has nothing to do with it's political viewpoints! > It's got everything to do with how they hype up and deliberately mislead you just to get you to watch/read so they can up their advertising prices. Granted all news organizations do it. It's just that Faux news takes the cake! I dunno guys. I thought maybe I could keep this thread running and trust that some of you wouldn't jump off the deep end and make it political. I was wrong. This thread is done.
