Super User burleytog Posted April 15, 2010 Super User Posted April 15, 2010 Wow, two in a row. Now I know what it feels like to be the team the Cubs let storm back in the late innings to take it. And just how bad is Houston? Even Jay Leno is making jokes at their expense. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted April 16, 2010 Author Super User Posted April 16, 2010 Can some one tell me why the hell Corey Hart wears yellow shades at a day game, in right field, at Wrigley??? He literally gave the chubbies five outs to work with in the ninth. And please, no sunglasses at night jokes. ;D Quote
FishingBuds Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 20 innings ;D pitchen was good, but come on : Quote
srv1990 Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 20 innings ;D pitchen was good, but come on : ...And the hitting was bad. It took the Mets four innings to score two runs against two non-pitchers (Lopez 1 inning, Mather 3 innings). Oh, and the Cards stranded 20 runners... ridiculous. Quote
Little Luey Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Despite world series or pennants there appears that apprx 10,000 MLB fans / yr think that there is only one "real" MLB team in Chicago. Even in a World Series winning year. Apparently by their own attendance winning a World Series is over rated? Attendance Cubs Sux 2009 39,610 28,199 2008 40,743 30,877 2007 40,153 33,140 2006 39,040 36,511 2005 38,749 28,923 I have not been around for a while but I will comment on this post. i agree there are more tickets sold at WF. But the stadistic you should be looking at is the following: wins/lost games year Sox Cubs 2009 79-83 83-78 2008 89-74 97-64 2007 72-90 85-77 2006 90-72 66-96 2005 99-63 79-83 2004 83-79 89-73 total 512-461 499-471 so the Sox record is a little better than the Cubs, yet the Sox have a pennant and the Cubs have noting but all the money their fans spend at their old-decrepit-falling in pieces stadium. you get less team for your dollar. So I say go on and spend your $$ at WF, if you are satisfied with poor results. The few time I was at WF, everyone is just partying, not really watching the game, so it is like paying cover charge to get in to a large outdoor bar. Keep it up, give them your $$ ;D ;D :D Quote
Little Luey Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Wrigley field: worlds largest gay bar. Pretty typical response from by the Sox fan cab-driver / sanitation worker mentality. ;D I don't think he meant it as an insult, did you know there is a very large gay community in the north side of Chicago? That is why they hold the gay and lesbian pride parade every year in the north side. there are also a lot of universities and colleges so they use WF as a pick up/party area. So yes, a lot of gay people go to the games. your response on the other hand, very typical of a frustraded Cub fan who will not see a penant in his life time ;D ;D. go ahead and blame the goat!! Super User Gone_Phishin Posted April 21, 2010 Author Super User Posted April 21, 2010 Looks like the chubbies have sent The Goon to the pen: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100421&content_id=9468898&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb A $18+mil relief arm...I love it. It makes our Suppan fiasco look like a good deal. ;D Water coolers, this is your warning. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted April 22, 2010 Super User Posted April 22, 2010 The goon? Hendry overpaid and I think Zambrano gave up once he got that contract. Quote

FishingBuds Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Im impressed with Garcia so far for the Cards, always can use a good lefty. I would have loved to been there in last nights game, turned out fun, " don't taz me bro!' Quote

I would have loved to been there in last nights game, turned out fun, " don't taz me bro!' Garcia has been something else. I don't expect him to be this lights-out all year, but with Carpenter, Wainwright and Penney in front of him, he's got no pressure and can just pitch. When it's all said and done this can turn out to be a heck of a starting 4 (or 5 if Lohse can return to '08 form). Quote

Super User burleytog Posted May 5, 2010 Super User Posted May 5, 2010 I didn't know you moonlight at the hot corner Burley: I had the best first to third arm. Too bad there weren't many first to third plays. Quote
FishingBuds Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 i have seen in the last 6 games with the cards the most horrible umpiring ever > the umps at the Phillies games was just unbelievable to see. i know bad calls can happen and will, and you move on to keep playing, a bad call doesn't cause you to lose the game, but 3 or 4 even 5 the Phillies & Cards game i believe i finally seen a game that because of bad umps just took the will of trying out of a team. 1inStripes Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Any Braves fans out there??? I am curious as to your thoughts on Yunel Escobar, and Martin Prado??? I have my fantasy draft tomorrow, and am wondering about their projections for this season. -Thanks Sorry I hadnt checked this out earlier. Prado may be a key to my whole fantasy season. I think I have him in all but 1 league I am in. He is solid. Escobar has his moments but is a good value later in the draft at SS. Solid player who should see an increase in RBIs batting lower in the lineup. No sweat. I stole Yunel way late, but missed out on Prado. I'm ticked because he is 1B, 2B, and 3B eligible in Yahoo leagues. Our league expanded a little this year, so to keep a fresh free agent pool, our commish dropped a bench spot or two. I forgot this would shorten our draft a few rounds, and incorrectly targeted Prado. I planned on taking him in round 22 or so...turns out we only had 20. How about Prado tonight Gone Fishin? Quote
