preach4bass Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 As a Cowboys fan, I'm glad it's past Clary's bedtime, because his spin on this one would just be a bigger embarrasment to the rest of us fans. :-[ Quote

llPa1nll Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Ravens Jets Patriots Steelers and Colts just outside of top 3 bubble. Crazy season where anything can happen (Bills almost beat the Ravens in Baltimore, Browns roll the Saints in N.O., etc). NFC is looking very weak, which means they'll probably win the Superbowl. I Agree!!! I have no idea how the Patriots are 5-1, but as a fan I will take it. :D Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted October 26, 2010 Super User Posted October 26, 2010 Ravens Jets Colts Man I hate putting the Jets in the top anything.... Quote

Now Glenn, Super Bowl XL was almost five years ago. I let go of my hostility towards the Cowboys from Superbowl XXX a while ago (though, I will say I am not terribly upset the Cowboys are imploding right now). My Top 3: 1. Jets 2. Patriots 3. Ravens (I would put the Steelers 1, 2, & 3, but it seems when the Steelers are favored, they don't fare as well. Therefore, I don't want to jinx them). Quote
Uncle Leo Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Maybe we should have 2 AFC teams in the Suoer Bowl this year, boy if the NFC does not get it together this years Super Bowl may not be much of a game. An NFC team barely makes the Top 5. Quote

An NFC team barely makes the Top 5. You're looking at it all wrong. It's not that the NFC is bad, it's just that it's very difficult at the moment to pick out a clear leader in the NFC. The AFC, on the other hand has enough stand outs or weak teams (whichever you view it) that's it's relatively easy to see who the leaders are. Not really, in any team sport consistency produces a winner. There is no consistency in play in the NFC, but much more in the AFC. The talent is there just no execution. IE your Hawks beating my Bears. The talent is there, IE Bears Cowboys, Saints, Packers and the Vikings to name a few. Maybe Atlanta or the Giants will have a chance. The AFC is doing what is expected no so in the NFC. Bad is an end product of execution much like good is. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted October 26, 2010 Author Super User Posted October 26, 2010 The Browns beat the Saints. In New Orleans. What more needs to be said. Quote
Jake. Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Baltimore Pittsburgh San Diego How are the Pats not on that list if they have beat 2/3 of those? LOL How did the Chargers even make that list? Are you just playing favorites or do you really think they are good? I wasn't being serious with San Diego. I do think they are better than what there record indicates though. They won't have any real success with Norv as the coach and A.J. Smith as GM. Smith lets his ego get in the way of what's best for the team. New England would be in my real top 3 along with Baltimore and Pittsburgh. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted October 26, 2010 Super User Posted October 26, 2010 The Giants? I used to live and die with them, but lost interest in most professional sports because the owners and players were nothing but crybabies, whining about how tough they had it during the contract negotiations that ended in walkouts. That was several years ago, and boy it was great to have my Sunday afternoons back. Play some golf, go fishing, get the lawn mowed, I preferred them all to watching pro sports except for those such as golf and tennis where an athlete was paid by how well they performed in any event. The Giants do remain a sentimental favorite, and I have watched some of their games. Do they belong in the top three or even top five? It depends on which Giants team shows up. They have the ability to dominate a game as they have demonstrated in a couple of games this year, but also have folded up like a cheap suit in a couple of others. Why complain about money when you are already set for life? These guys don't know how good they have it, playing a sport that they love (or once loved) and getting paid more than everyone else. Someone had a thread on this in the Everything Else section and it said something like players should be paid only if they win. I think that would give them some incentive to actually go out and play and not worry about contracts. Quote

Super User Tin Posted October 27, 2010 Super User Posted October 27, 2010 Anyone who believes those tapes (with the exception of the Rams walk through) helped them win Superbowls is just hating and knows nothing about football. As far as the perfect season goes, I have to say I think a Super Bowl victory is more important than a perfect season. Quote

Super User Fishing Rhino Posted October 27, 2010 Super User Posted October 27, 2010 If the Giants were to make it to the Super Bowl, all bets are off. The undefeated Pats were supposed to drub them a couple or three years ago. While it was a close, and a good game, the Giants defense really put a hurting on them. Who'd a thunk that the escape by Manning and the receiver catching the ball against his helmet was all that stood between the Pats and victory. Still, when the Giants gave the Pats all they wanted and more in the last regular season game, you had to give them a chance. Not much of a chance to be sure, but a chance. They made the most of it. I've seen teams that were not supposed to have a prayer win the Superbowl. Quote

The AFC Championship game will be the Super Bowl. It's still very early to make a statement like this. The Saints are more than capable of getting back on track and making a run. We have been without our 2 starting backs and our 3 best Db's for most of the season so far. Brees has played horrible and yet we should be 5-2 without the 29 yard field goal miss in ot. If we handle the Steelers Sunday which we are capable of doing everyone will be on the bandwagon again...I would say right now the Giants and Falcons are the teams to beat in the NFC but that could change very quickly. Super User 5bass Posted October 28, 2010 Super User Posted October 28, 2010 It's still very early to make a statement like this. Might be. We're just about halfway thru the season and I'm just calling it like I see it. Injuries could change things but as it sits right now, its AFC all the way. Quote
