Contract expired and it's time for a freebie or low cost.  All I want is a phone with a better camera and larger display than a flip phone, texting, internet or aps hold no interest for me.

I can get a Samsung continuum for $50, 5 mp.  I'm with Verizon.

Droids have the best cameras on verizon, but you don't want all that extra stuff. See if you can find anyone that still has some Casio Exilims left. You may have to look at a non exclusive vzw store though. Vzw is quick to get rid of old stock.

I don't know much about that Samsung because we don't have any yet, but Samsung makes awesome phones for Vzw so it should be a good one.

Not sure if this would be the phone for you, but the latest G'Z one phones.  There are dust proof, water resistant (I have the first generation one) drop proof while the battery usually lasts 4 days on one charge for me. The latest phones have a 3.2 Megapixel camera. It is a flip phone, but has a pretty big display in my opinion.

Ah, yes I forgot about those. The Ravine is the newest model. It's a good phone too, kinda reminds me of a sports car haha but thats a good thing!

Best buy had better promotions than Verizon, wound up with an HTC incredible model, retail $599, my cost was zero, it has an 8 mp camera.  New to smart phones so I'm fumbling quite a bit, has touch keyboard which is hard to operate but I won't be doing any texting and very limited internet use, I much prefer doing that on my pc.

As my facebook page says " I don't tweet, twitter or text, you want me use the d**n phone!" :)

Ah, the Incredible is a great phone also. I love HTC, they make awesome stuff. You'll love the android operating system and probably never go back to anything else once you get used to it. Check out the other threads we have floating around here on good android apps.

Edit: Forgot to add... You did get the $30 data plan with it correct? People come in here and want the $15 150MB plan and go over that in 5 days with the phone. No matter how good you think you'll be, 150MB will be destroyed by that phone!

I think I'm going to be happy with what I got, better be it's mine for 2 years, lol.  It has the features I was looking for and the difficult keypad is a non issue as I plan on doing no texting.  Getting more comfortable with it and it's only been a day.

Oh, you say that now........in a month you'll be dropping acronyms to your bff and slipping out of the office to try to beat just one more level of Angry Birds.   ;)

String you get Angry Birds Seasons yet? Another addicting game is Spaghetti Marshmallows lite. There is also now a free SNES emulator that lets you save (TigerSNES) Jimmy Houstom Bass Fishing for SNES is the only game you need!

Not even a remote possibility.

Not yet - - I haven't beaten the regular version.  I let my wife play it a few weeks ago and I haven't had access to my phone for quite a while since.   ;D

Got the Angry Birds Seasons and it is great as well.  I also found the Spaghetti Marshmallow game yesterday and it is addicting as well.  I love my Samsung Fascinate......now if version would fix a couple of little things in an update we would be all set.  The only complaint I have is when typing on the keyboard I consistently hit the "," button instead of the space button or the "mic" button instead of the space button.  If I could change that I would.  Other than that a great phone.

You can thank Samsung for not updating the phones. They are notorious for never updating software and just releasing new phones to 'fix' the issues. Thats the only gripe I have about Samsung, they make some great hardware, just need to get the software end of it fixed. (I realize it's Android, but Samsung has their own overlay on their phones and thats what is causing the issues).

It is funny that you say that. From what I have read Samsung has actually releaased Froyo for other Galaxy S phones and Verizon isn't releasing their version yet because they want certain things included in the update. It seems that Verizon is the one holding up the update being pushed to the phones. Either way.....I can wait. I would rather have a solid update build than a piece of junk one that makes this phone useless.

I had an LG phone and will never go down that road again. They do update their phones a lot, but whoever tests the updates does a poor job at it. They released two updates for my old phone that literally disabled the thing with constant reboots. The last one was the final straw so I upgraded to this one. Their hardware was ok, but their software was terrible. Funny it seems to be the other way around now.

Ah your right I forgot about that. Most of the Galaxy S stuff over in Europe is on 2.2, I don't think AT&T's Samsung is on 2.2 yet... Actually, I don't think ANY At&t droid is running 2.2 (unless you count the Nexus 1, but thats not really an ATT phone). Wonder if the Iphone has anything to do with that :P

I am hearing rumblings of a new build for some fixes before Froyo.  Maybe they are going to incorporate it into Froyo for Verizon.

My boss has the Nexus 1 (which always gets the updates before just about everything else) and he got a maintenance update a week or so ago. It only fixed some things, no features were added.

Me too ! Perhaps it's the place of life I'm in, I have little or no use for 99% of the features.  I prefer doing everything in the comfort of my home on my pc, like banking, web browsing and answering the little bit of email I get, almost always a response to an inquiry I made.  I have never received a text message from one of my friends and probably never will.  Don't even understand  the hundreds of available aps and why would I pay for something when I can do it for free on my puter.  Any post I want to make can wait till I get home.  I like the camera.

Nate was right about mb usage, I barely have used this phone and I can see where it's going.  This experiment is winding up to be an exercize in futility for me.  I don't care for this phone, it's awkward and clumsy, battery drains very quick, for me the features are useless.

In short order I will most likely get my flip phone re activated and toss this one in drawer, maybe I can sell it.

I got the lg wine 2 a few months ago. Its a flip phone with a pretty good camera. Its a basic phone. The battery will last for ever. Its also cheap. When I got it I got it for like 60 dollars.

My buddies all wanted me to get a smart phone. I just go why. I am all ready paying 60 dollars a month for high speed internet. So I was not going to pay another 60 dollars a month for a data plan. I don't text or go on the net on a phone. I use a phone for what it was made for calls only. I take a few pictures from time to time.

Heres a few pictures that I took with the lg wine 2.
