tnbassfisher Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 How did some of you older guys pick up the habit? Quote
Super User grimlin Posted March 6, 2010 Super User Posted March 6, 2010 I gotta ask because it seems to happen in baseball, and a lot of them chew, or used to. When you chaw, do you get a sudden urge to grab your crotch? Enquiring minds want to know. Once in awhile..... Quote
brushhoggin Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 How did some of you older guys pick up the habit? i'm only 30 but i went to a boarding school for high school, and i smoked before i went. people got in serious trouble for smoking there so i dipped cause it was easier to get away with. no smell, no lighters involved (which were also frowned upon) Eventually they started checking your teeth for dip if they were suspicious. Rebel Angler Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 I chew levi garrett almost every time I go fish. I don't chew it any other times though. I've always wondered if spittin in the water affected the fish in anyway. I never even thought about the smell being on the lure. So thanks for posting this topic! Quote

I chew Garrett, but only while fishing or at a ball game...especially when I'm fishing while listening to a ball game. ;D Quote
Hook Set Posted March 7, 2010 Author Posted March 7, 2010 I got started in college, got addicted. I drive a lot for my job now and it helps to pass the time. If I go fishing without it, I feel lost! I'd like to stop before my 40th birthday, wish me luck! Quote

Hook Set Posted March 7, 2010 Author Posted March 7, 2010 I have seen the pictures Bass Brat and they are terrifying. The truly sad part is that I actually work in the medical field and am fully aware. How sad is that! Quote

Fat-G Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Why do you guys hit the can or whatever you do when your about to dip? Quote
Nine Miler Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Costing your bites or causing you bites?? I doubt it has much of an affect either way, especially if you're using scents. I once dropped a can of cherry Skoal from my treestand. It spilled all down the tree and landed on the ground. I had a doe come in right up to the tree and sniff the can!! I'd tie a can over the side on your boat ;D Cherry Skoal!? That's what I get for my girlfriend! Ha. Cope for life. That's a good 'un right there. Quote

Red Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 I was a smoker at first, for about ten years. Then I started dipping while I was fishing and smoking any other time. Then I was smoking and dipping at the same time, all the time!! I decided I needed to choose one or the other. I chose to dip. Been smoke free for several years now!! ;D Cliff Quote
