Super User K_Mac Posted November 19, 2010 Super User Posted November 19, 2010 A gun will feel totally different with a loaded mag... The added weight will give you the true feeling of a gun, I think anyway... Another good reason to go to a range where you can rent different guns if you don't know someone who has the gun your interested in. My SR9c is more comfortable to shoot with a 10 round mag than with a full size 17 round mag. You just can't get a real feel for a handgun standing at the gun counter, you have to shoot it IMO. Quote
moby bass Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 You might change your mind after you shoot one (talking about any gun)... I almost bought a Springfield XD without shooting one, and I am glad I popped a few rounds off before I dropped the coin one one. I thought it felt unbalanced, and not to comfortable... A gun will feel totally different with a loaded mag... The added weight will give you the true feeling of a gun, I think anyway... i love mine. I like my Springfield as well. My Sig 229 doesn't fit me nearly as well. Quote
bwell Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 I dont think they are bad guns, it just didnt fit my hands very well... I like the adjustable grips that he MP provides... Quote

Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted November 19, 2010 Super User Posted November 19, 2010 Gen 4 Glocks have them now as well, although they are not easy to find around here. Easy grip thickness (backstrap) changes are becoming SOP with many of the new polymer guns. Quote
done Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 yeah it was one of the things I liked about the M&P. Being able to swap out that grip was a nice touch. Quote
Super User South FLA Posted November 20, 2010 Super User Posted November 20, 2010 Sig P229 in .40 S&W with Meprolight Tritium sights is what I got Quote
Fat-G Posted November 21, 2010 Author Posted November 21, 2010 To make this thread more interesting, where do you keep them if they're for home defense? Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted November 21, 2010 Super User Posted November 21, 2010 Nightstand. No children in our home. Quote
Super User Micro Posted November 21, 2010 Super User Posted November 21, 2010 To make this thread more interesting, where do you keep them if they're for home defense? I have a couple of these strategically placed in my house, programmed with the same combination to keep it simple... Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted November 22, 2010 Super User Posted November 22, 2010 To make this thread more interesting, where do you keep them if they're for home defense? all mine are locked in the gun safe or in my truck, in the garage. a 12 ga. is much better served IMO to slow down unwanted house guests. done Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 To make this thread more interesting, where do you keep them if they're for home defense? Generally, in my waistband in a IWB holster. When asleep on a shelf 6 ft off the floor in the corner next to my bed. Otherwise in a safe but it rarely sees the safe. Quote
bwell Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Most of my guns are in my closet up high, but I keep my M&P under the bed. Soon I will have to look into getting a safe that reads thumb prints so our little one cant get into it... Quote

Also for the M&P if you got a CCW permit, the Crossbreed supertuck is a great holster for it. I have had mine for about 8 months and it really makes carrying a FS M&P about as easy as it is going to get. Quote
bwell Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I wish we had CC here in IL, I don't see that happening anytime soon lol. I do have a holster for it but it doesn't hide it for CC... Quote
done Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 you never know. I never would have thought SCOTUS would have one day ruled as they did this year. So who knows someday hopefully sooner rather than later you will be CCWing. Quote
Fat-G Posted November 22, 2010 Author Posted November 22, 2010 Have any of you had a possible in-home threat that warranted your piece? Quote
Super User Sam Posted November 22, 2010 Super User Posted November 22, 2010 This is a funny thread. Fat-G, do you really think your mom is going to let you get a weapon???? Do you really think your dad is going to let you get a weapon???? Good question as long as it is hypothetical. Have a fun Thanksgiving. Go out in your back yard and shoot a turkey! Quote

Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted November 23, 2010 Super User Posted November 23, 2010 Have any of you had a possible in-home threat that warranted your piece? Piece? That single word tells me that you are not mature enough to handle a firearm. Sounds like a 1990's rap video or a bad episode of Miami Vice... : Quote

You never know. I never thought I'd own a handgun unless I moved out of the city. Now I own 2 handguns. Also, not to be political but it's well known that Mayor Daley has been one of the biggest opponents of guns and concealed carry. It's possible with him leaving Chicago that concealed carry could be a reality. Quote
bwell Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Have any of you had a possible in-home threat that warranted your piece? My gun yes... We had someone break in our house and I found it very easy to convince him to sit down and stay still till the cops came with my M&P pointed at him! Quote

I live by the University here and work there, and I see emails all the time of women and men getting beat up and robbed. I bet if they knew they knew anyone of those people could be carrying a gun for protection they would think twice about robbing them. Quote
