Pond Hopper Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I have a Browning Hi-Power Practical 9mm. I love this gun but I'm about to sell it and get two Kel Tec P-3ATs for CCW. One for me and one for my wife. Check out the Ruger LCP before buying the Keltec for a CCW. I was set on a keltec until a buddy let me shoot the keltec and the LCP side by side. Just a suggestion. Super User .dsaavedra. Posted November 17, 2010 Super User Posted November 17, 2010 GLADES, no gun is dangerous--it's the one that posses it that can be. thats what he said, a handgun in the wrong hands is dangerous. also, i think one could argue that a loaded gun is innately dangerous. A vehicle in the wrong hands is dangerous. We are surrounded by many things that are dangerous in the wrong hands. A powered table saw is innately dangerous. This conversation is dangerous in that it will quickly turn political if we aren't careful. Gun ownership comes with the responsibility to handle and secure guns properly. Anyone not willing to do that has no business owning them. If that is done however, the only thing more dangerous than having guns is not having them IMO. i completely agree with everything you just said. Quote

OHIO Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 You can't buy a handgun until you are 21 unless you buy from a private dealer, either way, you have to be 21 to buy handgun ammo. There are rifles that shoot pistol ammo, so that's not true. Yes, it is true. You have to be 21 to purchase pistol ammo. Jack, I have the PT145 and my wife carries the PT140 (hers has the stainless slide). I love my Taurus pistols, wouldnt trust my life with one if I wasn't confident with it. I also just put a Ruger GP100 on lay away at work. Will be picking it up in a week. So your telling me that you have to be 21 to buy .22 rounds? They make rifles and pistols in .22 caliber and I have bought .22 ammo many times. I'm not saying it's the same with all ammo, but there are some that you can buy. Anyways, back to the original question. I have a Rock Island Armory .45 acp, a Walther .22, and 7.62 (some Russian maker). Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted November 17, 2010 Super User Posted November 17, 2010 I have the following; 2 Glock .40's model 22. .38 Smith Wesson airweight revolver Benelli semi-auto tactical shotgun (Love this gun) Bushmaster AR-15 All guns are strategically placed throughout the house to combat intruders and safeguard my fishing gear. pa mountain man Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I have 3 handguns A ruger P94(most expensive paper weight I own) A Hi-Point .380 A percusion .36 derringer My ruger has been back to the factory 4 times with the same results, and I won't sell anyone that pile(though ruger makes a fine bolt action and six shooter, I'll never own another semi). The hi point was a great investment, I paid $159 for it, to carry while I cut wood on the national forest with. I've put maybe 500 rounds through it since I ran it over with my truck, and that was full of saw dust. I'm not saying its the greatest,or comfortable for that matter, but if your afraid to scratch your sidearm, the hi points for you. I like to carry the dixie muzzle loader for defense, simply because nobody's autopsy report has had one listed for cause of death in a long time. ;D Quote

Super User Micro Posted November 17, 2010 Super User Posted November 17, 2010 That Commander is pretty nice lookin. Love the black/white combination. Is it just me, or do the grips look like they don't fit that handle right? They fit better than the original double-diamond grips that came on it. These are Hogue Ivory matrix grips that were a bit oversized. These panels actually come to the front contour line on the frame. The originals were set back from it so there was a gap between the contour line and the front edge of the grip panel. The Hogues also are higher. The original left the slide-stop pin spring housing fully exposed. The Hogues extend up over it. I had to fit that section since the Hogues interfered with the slide stop operation. It has a full range of motion now that it is properly fitted. I agree, they look different. But its because they have more area and cover more than the originals.. Quote

There are rifles that shoot pistol ammo, so that's not true. It is true. I work at Dick's Sporting Goods. If someone comes in to buy .22LR, and I somehow ascertain that they are buying it for use in a pistol, then they must be 21 to purchase it. Quote

They are essentially the same gun along with the new Taurus 380. They are based off the Keltec (original design). The fit and finish of the LCP feels a little nicer, but it seems to have a longer trigger pull, IMO. Honestly, I wouldn't have a problem owning any of the three. There is that little difference to me. These are not designed to be 25yd pistols; more or less "belly guns" for when the poop hits the fan. While you can shoot them accurately at some distance, that is not their intended use and are designed as such. Again, all IMO. Quote
