Super User K_Mac Posted November 18, 2010 Super User Posted November 18, 2010 Go to some of the gun forums and you will find that many would consider Frogtog seriously understocked on ammo. I am not kidding. Personally I have around 200 rounds (each) of 9mm, .357, and 12 gauge including ~25 of 00 buck. I don't think 1000 rounds in several calibers is excessive. Having enough to be able to buy on sale makes good sense to me. When it comes to guns or fishing good sense and foolishness are just a matter of opinion. 8-) Quote
Baker06 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 I buy about 200 rounds each in the same lot number for my 270 and 7-30 waters, and I keep around 1000 rounds combined for my pistols, shotguns, and AR15. Sometimes that isn't enough especially when I go shooting with my brother. Quote
frogtog Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 I wouldn't hurt a flee, in fact I spent 30 minutes last night trying to get a mouse off a sticky board so I could turn him lose. ;D Quote

All guns are loaded and no locks Almost forgot my blank pistol I use to chase the unwanted people away from my door. ;D You must live in a rough neighborhood. It is not so much that but when you see these shootings and such, where do they happen? Many of them happen in "safe" places where "this kind of stuff does not happen". I mean my neighborhood we have all middle class (avg house price $175,000). Very quiet, safe, very low crime. 5 years ago we had a guy show up at the entrance a week after being out of jail. He decided he did not want to live anymore and he did not have the stones to kill himself, he wanted other others to do it. He pulled out a 12 gauge and started shooting into homes. He was eventually killed by police. yeah that type of stuff is rare, very rare, but that is little solace if your child/wife/etc is shot dead during that little event. It hurts nothing to have the firearms available (if you do it safely for your given situation), but it can hurt plenty if you do not have it and need it. One the original point, I added a couple hundred more rounds to that and a new caliber yesterday. Wifey has a new carry weapon now. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted November 19, 2010 Super User Posted November 19, 2010 I too live in a relatively "crime free" neighborhood. Kids playing in the streets, people walking their dogs, etc. Earlier this week, two men broke into a home 1 block from my house. They shot a man while he was sleeping. No details released, but I assume some type of vendetta or drugs are involved. "Not in my neighborhood" doesn't really apply in today's America, unfortunately. Quote
RussBert Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I measure the quantities by the case, not by the round! I rekon for a fishing forum I have a lot of ammo and reloading components, but on the gun forums, I'm just one of the guys ;D Quote

Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted July 19, 2011 Super User Posted July 19, 2011 They were 1.50 a round when I bought them a few years back. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted July 20, 2011 Super User Posted July 20, 2011 I don't have a lot at home, most of my guns are elsewhere, as is my ammunition. I have one .40 at home, one .380, one .45ACP and one 12 GA. Total I have probably under 400 at home, and most of those are in clips in various, key, places around home. Quote
SGT Rico Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 I shoot 3 times every month. Being prior service, I like to keep an edge. I use to keep 1,000 rounds per caliber, but with ammo going up the way it is, I stoped buying it. My stock pile is still looking good. With some trades I've done recently, I am down to 6 calibers. .40S&W, .45ACP, 9MM, .308, .380ACP, and 7.62x39. Quote

ARH4AU Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 An unloaded and locked gun is a rock. I completely disagree, if it's a long gun it's more like a club. However a handgun is pretty much a rock. Quote

Bob Lee Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 1,500 x 9mm Luger 40 x 9mm Hollow Point (shot 10 to test) 750 x 12ga 00 Buck 24 x 12 ga Centurion (shot 1 to test) 4,000 x .22LR This is just off memory. I didn't realize I had so much until I was cleaning out the closet two weeks ago and it just kept coming. I couldn't even count the number of BBs and .177 pellets I still have - but that number will be dwindling when my Nephew gets old enough that his mother will let me give him the Crossman. I had a few hundred "dove" rounds that I gave to a guy at the range last weekend. Quote
kms399 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 30 rounds for the 30-30. 150 or so 12 gauge ammo and maybe 200 rounds for the 22. duck season just ended here yesterday so I am running low there. I have lots of friends with well over 1000 rounds, remind your friend just how fast you can shoot them up. I mean when I trap shoot it's usually 200 rounds or so at a time and I dont shoot as much other people. when the zombies attack guess whose house your anti gun friend will be running too! Quote
