Super User Alpster Posted November 22, 2010 Super User Posted November 22, 2010 For those of you who remember me hobbling around Lake Guntersville at the Roadtrip two years ago, Speedbead will remember most, as he carried me and took care of this old man all week long. Well, I finally broke down (literally) and had my left knee replaced on the 10th of this month. I am home from rehab and doing very well. I will get the right one replaced in January and should be good as new in time for the roadtrip. I can already walk better than I could before the surgery. It's a miracle to live in a time when you can get new knees when the old ones wear out. I am very thankful! Ronnie Quote
Super User Tin Posted November 22, 2010 Super User Posted November 22, 2010 Hope it all works out and you feel better Ronnie. Maybe the bones won't hurt as much next time we fish on a 35*, rainy day, with 20 mph winds. LOL Take care Quote
Super User grimlin Posted November 22, 2010 Super User Posted November 22, 2010 Good to hear you're recovery is going good. We miss you around here. Quote
FishingBuds Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Good to hear the news Ronnie and hope for a speedy recovery. By the way what took your knees out your work(roofing)? or is a medical condition thing if ya mind me asken? Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted November 22, 2010 Super User Posted November 22, 2010 Return of the 6 million dollar man. Congrats on the new parts buddy. Glad you're feeling better. Quote
Super User Alpster Posted November 22, 2010 Author Super User Posted November 22, 2010 Good to hear the news Ronnie and hope for a speedy recovery. By the way what took your knees out your work(roofing)? or is a medical condition thing if ya mind me asken? Rheumatoid Arthritis. Had it for 25+ years. Doc wanted to replace the knees three years ago. I put it off as long as I possibly could. Got to where I couldn't walk so here I am. All is good, I will be dancing again in no time. Ronnie Quote
Super User Alpster Posted November 22, 2010 Author Super User Posted November 22, 2010 Return of the 6 million dollar man. Congrats on the new parts buddy. Glad you're feeling better. Thanks Robert. You don't get quite as much for 6 mil as you used to. LOL Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted November 23, 2010 BassResource.com Administrator Posted November 23, 2010 Excellent news Ronnie! Glad to hear you're on the mend! Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted November 23, 2010 Super User Posted November 23, 2010 Glad to hear it Ronnie. Hope the next one goes even better than the first. For the record, the Guntersville assistance was the least I could do. Don't go telling people that; they might expect me to be nice or something. Don't want to ruin my rep. Looking forward to seeing you in April. Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted November 24, 2010 Super User Posted November 24, 2010 Congrats on the new knee......I hope the second surgery goes as well as the first one! 8-) Quote

Super User 5bass Posted November 24, 2010 Super User Posted November 24, 2010 Man, it's good to see an Alpster post around here again. Glad to hear everything's going good for you these days. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 24, 2010 Super User Posted November 24, 2010 Yeah, you can tell all these young men, "It sucks to get old!" I'm glad things are working out, hope to see you at Kentucky Lake again. -Kent Quote
Super User Sam Posted November 24, 2010 Super User Posted November 24, 2010 Alpster, I need my right one replaced and the left one is heading down hill. Wonderful news about you successful surgery. My problem is that I don't like doctors, hospitals, blood, guts, nurses, needles, pills and pain. Let us know how the second one goes. My ortho told me to come back when I can't walk any more and he will do the surgery. Congrats on a successful procedure. Quote
Super User Alpster Posted November 24, 2010 Author Super User Posted November 24, 2010 Thanks for all the well wishes! Can't wait to see you guys at KY Lake in April. I will have both knees done by then. I will beat everyone to the boat ramp. My problem is that I don't like doctors, hospitals, blood, guts, nurses, needles, pills and pain. Sam, I am not a big fan of any of the above, but I have to tell you, I'm not afraid to do the second one. It is miraculous how well they can control the pain. The whole ordeal wasn't nearly as bad as I had imagined. I can already walk better than before the surgery only 2 weeks ago. If you are in bad shape, you should go for it. It's really not that hard. Super User Sam Posted November 24, 2010 Super User Posted November 24, 2010 Thanks, Ronnie. I am building up to it. Happy Thanksgiving! Quote

Super User NorcalBassin Posted November 25, 2010 Super User Posted November 25, 2010 Congrats on the quick recovery so far. Just be sure to get that knee straight and get those quads working... then it's all good from there. Quote
