Stringjam Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 I can find something from pretty much every genre that I really like. Favorite is too hard, so I'll just to a short list. Metal (mostly progressive): Mastodon Tool Meshuggah Periphery Mnemic Opeth Tesseract Rock: Porcupine Tree Alter Bridge Soundgarden Audioslave STP Clutch hmmm...list is already getting too long.... First two albums from Black Eyed Peas (pre-Ferg) I actually do like Lady Gaga - for one thing, she can sing her a** off, unlike so many other pop and country girls..... Bill Evans from the classic jazz camp Andy McKee (new acoustic) Tony Rice (bluegrass) so many more...... Quote

FordNFishinLover Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Now now! Dont be a dissin my Gaga! I like a few of her songs haha. I'll listen to about anything but freakin rap. If rap wasn't turned into the crap it is now i prob would listen to it. Eminem on the other hand does have a few "actual songs" that i will listen to. I listen to everything but mainly country and classic rock. Favorite country- Toby Keith Brad Paisley Alan Jackson Rock- Kings of Leon Dave Matthews Others- Jack Johnson Blues traveler If i had to listen to any singer at any time it would be Blues Traveler. Love his music. Quote

I love Within Temptation also, although they have almost nothing in common with those five. Quote
Baker06 Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Country music and Southern Rock. My favorite would have to be between Johnny Cash and Hank III. The stuff they call country music today is no where near being real country music. Quote
Nick94 Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 oh yeah, i forgot to mention! anybody here like any world music? like folk, irish, indian, japanese, any of the sort? Indian (Ravi) is awesome and some traditional bagpipes and accordian is notable 8-) Quote

Stringjam Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Country music is defined by the people who create it....so IT IS what IT IS. Hanks Williams and Johnny Cash didn't invent country music.....it was around long before them and will / has gone on long after - and it reflects the attitude and sound of the "country" artists that write it. Whether it sounds closer to southern rock or pop is neither here nor there......the music is either GOOD or BAD. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted August 26, 2010 Super User Posted August 26, 2010 indie and stoner metal are probably my two favorites but i listen to a lot of other metal and indie pop and some electronica stuff and bluegrass. can't stand anything mainstream though. that william elliot whitmore guy is good! Not surprising coming from someone who says their favorite movie is Gummo Quote
